Put on the computer what the public asks for, not everything about the US.

I asked for a total medal count. I have been looking for 20 minutes and still cannot find it.

I also asked for a specific medal count for a specific country and got a history of when they first started to compete in the Olympics. I asked for a medal count for 2018, as of today,

not a history of that country.

You don't even accept what I have asked.

Petra Jungebluth und Todd Schulz verkaufen Produkte für anspruchsvolle Hundebesitzer. Das Trommeln überlassen sie anderen.

• Nein, über sein größtes Husarenstück mag Todd Schulz eigentlich gar nicht mehr reden. Wie das war, als er mit seiner Vier-Mann-Agentur einen globalen Projekt-Etat von Coca-Cola gewann und dabei die Giganten der Branche aus dem Feld schlug. Wie er anschließend den Werbe-Etat für die Fußball-WM in Deutschland 2006 an Land zog. „Ist doch schon mal drüber geschrieben worden“, wehrt er ab. „Ich schicke Ihnen den Link zu dem Artikel zu.“ Schulz, der noch vor wenigen Jahren außer für Coca-Cola Kampagnen für Weltmarken wie Adidas oder Vodafone entwarf, hat sich auf eine Umlaufbahn fernab der Werbung geschossen – und man hat keinen Augenblick den Eindruck, dass er das große Kino vermisst.

Die Welt, in der Todd Schulz heute beruflich agiert, ist vergleichsweise sehr klein und überschaubar. Es ist die der Hunde und ihrer Besitzer. In dieser Welt gibt es eine Reihe von Produkten, von denen der Hundemensch annimmt, dass sein Gefährte nicht ohne sie auskommt. Ein Bett. Eine Leine. Ein Halsband. Ein Fressnapf. Ein Spielzeug. Auf genau diesem Markt bewegt sich das Label Cloud 7, das seine Ehefrau Petra Jungebluth gemeinsam mit Todd Schulz vor fünf Jahren in Berlin-Kreuzberg gegründet und mittlerweile zu beachtlichem Erfolg geführt hat.

Weil diese Welt so anders ist als jene, die Schulz vor einigen Jahren, wohl für immer, hinter sich gelassen hat, wirbt er auch ganz anders als früher. „Die Schnittmenge zu meiner damaligen Tätigkeit als Kreativer“, sagt der 56-Jährige, „ist fast gleich null.“

Für eine groß angelegte TV- oder Print-Kampagne haben die Gründer kein Geld. Aber selbst wenn Schulz den gesamten Erlös aus dem Verkauf seiner Agentur an Saatchi & Saatchi in Reklame für Cloud 7 hätte stecken können – er hätte es nicht getan. Ihm stand einfach nicht mehr der Sinn nach Markteroberung mittels Penetration.

In seinem früheren Leben hat er sich, wie er sagt, ein „starkes Misstrauen der klassischen Werbung gegenüber“ angeeignet. „Da dominiert meist das zwanghafte Bestreben, mit allen möglichen Mitteln die eigene Nische zu finden; die Grenze zur Lüge ist dabei schnell überschritten.“ Eine derartige Inszenierung passe weder zur Idee von Cloud 7 noch zu dessen Entstehungsgeschichte – die eben nicht damit begann, dass jemand eine Marktnische suchte, über den USP nachdachte, Umsatzpotenziale auslotete oder einen Businessplan schrieb.

Den entscheidenden Impuls zur Gründung gab Johan, ein schwarzer Labradorrüde, mittlerweile gnadenreiche 13 Jahre alt, der irgendwann Einzug in das Leben des Ehepaars gehalten hatte. Eines Tages benötigte das Tier mal wieder eine neue Schlafstatt. Die Modedesignerin Petra Jungebluth, die unter anderem für Strenesse und Tommy Hilfiger gearbeitet hatte, sah sich im Handel um – und entdeckte nur Grausliches: schlampig verarbeitete Hundebetten mit billigster Füllung aus Watte oder Schaumstoff, deren Design „allein der verniedlichenden und sentimentalen Betrachtung vieler Hundebesitzer entsprang“.

Kaum ein Produkt kam ohne aufgedruckte Pfötchen oder Knochen aus; in besonders schlimmen Fällen war der Bezug mit Goldbrokat oder Strasselementen „verziert“. „Das Bett, das wir schließlich gekauft haben, immerhin für 100 Euro, war nicht nur vom Design das reinste Grauen, es sah nach drei Wochen auch aus wie der letzte Schlonz.“

Und es ging ja nicht nur ihnen so. Bei allen Hundebesitzern unter ihren Freunden und Bekannten – darunter viele mit stilvoll eingerichteten Altbauwohnungen – „lag so ein hässlicher Schandfleck im Wohnzimmer“. Ein Lumpen im Knöchi-Design neben dem Designsofa von Moroso oder Bretz – allein die Vorstellung war für Jungebluth auf Dauer nicht zu ertragen.

Sie recherchierte, welche chemisch unbehandelten Materialien für einen strapazierfähigen, schmutz- und sabberfesten Bettbezug infrage kämen, entwarf eine Matratzenkonstruktion aus Latex und Polyester, die sich dem Körper des Hundes anpasst und trotzdem formstabil bleibt, und nähte schließlich alles zusammen. Das Bett für Johan war fertig. Weitere Prototypen für die Hunde im Bekanntenkreis folgten. Das durchweg positive, in einigen Fällen geradezu begeisterte Echo der Abnehmer ließ bei Petra Jungebluth die Idee aufkeimen, in die Produktion von Hundebetten einzusteigen.

Dank ihrer damaligen Putzfrau fand sie eine Näherei in Polen, die bis heute sämtliche Hundebetten für Cloud 7 fertigt, außerdem Schlafsäcke, Reisebetten und – für den Transport von Chihuahua, Mops oder Zwergdackel – eine Hundetragetasche mit herausnehmbarem Einsatz aus Schafwolle. Gute Qualität, Langlebigkeit, hochwertige organische und recycelte Textilien, ein Innenleben, das nach einer Wäsche nicht als formloser Klumpen aus der Maschine kommt, anständige Arbeitsbedingungen – all dies hat seinen Preis. „So ein Hundebett lässt sich dann nicht für 50 Euro verkaufen“, sagt Jungebluth. Auch nicht für 100 Euro. Die Schlafstätten aus dem Cloud-7-Sortiment kosten zwischen 129 Euro für Modell „Cozy“ in Größe S und 899 Euro für das exklusive „Dream“ mit Rindslederbezug.

Bei ihrer Markterkundung hatte Petra Jungebluth auch das Sortiment von Zoofachhandel und Heimtier-Discountern wie Fressnapf inspiziert – und sofort von der Liste möglicher Vertriebswege gestrichen. Der Anteil der dortigen Kunden, die bereit sind, beim monatlichen Futtereinkauf mal eben 300 Euro für ein Hundebett auszugeben, dürfte gegen null tendieren. Das von langen Regalreihen voller Futterdosen und Katzenstreu dominierte Ambiente passt nicht zu einer Edelmarke. „Wir haben unsere Hundebetten von Anfang an nicht als Hundebedarf betrachtet, sondern als Einrichtungsgegenstand, als Wohnaccessoire“, sagt Todd Schulz.

Schon das Markenversprechen „Finest Interiors For Dogs & Dog Lovers“ signalisiert, dass Cloud 7 bei der Wahl seiner Vertriebspartner primär auf gehobene Einrichtungshäuser setzt. In 200 Läden aus 25 Ländern, darunter das Londoner Warenhaus Harrods, erwirtschaftet die Firma heute rund 75 Prozent ihres Umsatzes „im hohen sechsstelligen Bereich“, den Rest steuert der eigene Onlineshop bei. Neben den Betten gehören auch Halsbänder, Leinen, Fressnäpfe und Accessoires wie eine handgeschnitzte Hundepfeife aus Hirschhorn zum Sortiment. Nicht schlecht für eine Firma, die kaum Werbung macht. Jedenfalls nicht auf klassische Art. „Bei Cloud 7 mussten wir nichts strategisch konstruieren“, sagt Schulz, „nichts übertreiben oder verstecken.“ Da die Hundewelt ohnehin sehr gefühlig ist, musste er auch keine Emotionalität herbeifabulieren wie bei einem Auto. Die Gründer haben schlicht die Geschichte vom schönen, wertigen und fair produzierten Hundebett für die vielen Johans dieser Welt erzählt.

Die Suche nach den richtigen Multiplikatoren für die Cloud-7-Story kostete indes etliche Monate. Schulz suchte das Internet nach Design- und einschlägigen Meinungsbildner- und Trendscout-Blogs ab. Es entstand eine Liste mit rund 2000 Kontakten. Jeder wurde angeschrieben. Cloud 7 hatte ja auch schon etwas zum Vorzeigen: eine Imagebroschüre im Format DIN A3 mit Fotos von – auf der Straße gecasteten – Hundemenschen und ihren auf Wolke sieben ruhenden vierbeinigen Lebenspartnern.

Die Broschüre wurde, wie Todd Schulz es formuliert, „so etwas wie das kommunikative Herz der Marke“. Bekannte Design-Blogs wie Remodelista, Design Milk, Design Sponge oder Yatzer veröffentlichten die gesamte Fotoserie, schrieben über die Marke und lobten die Qualität der Produkte. Dadurch wurden wieder andere Blogger, aber auch Print-Magazine auf Cloud 7 aufmerksam. Die Kunde vom schicken Hundebett machte die Runde. „Wir haben unsere Geschicke in die Hände anderer Menschen gelegt“, sagt Schulz. „Irgendwann konnten wir aufhören, selbst über uns zu sprechen.“

Eine glückliche Hand bewiesen die beiden Gründer auch bei ihren Allianzen. Mit Normann Copenhagen beispielsweise, eine der weltweit führenden Designmarken, in deren Flagship Store Cloud 7 vier Wochen lang mit einer Ausstellung gastierte. Oder mit Geschmacks-Papst Andreas Murkudis, der die Kollektion in das Sortiment seines Konzept-Stores in der Berliner Individualisten-Shoppingpassage Bikini aufnahm. Für die amerikanische Luxus-Reisemarke Tumi wiederum entwickelte Petra Jungebluth eine spezielle Kollektion. „Allein diese drei Events haben uns weltweit Berge von Publikationen in angesagten Medien verschafft“, freut sich Schulz. Die allmähliche Diffusion der Markenbotschaft von der Design-Subkultur in den journalistischen Mainstream, in Magazine wie »Dogs«, »Brigitte«, »Gala« und »Zeit-Magazin« erschloss Cloud 7 weitere Segmente des hunde- und designaffinen Mittelstands.

Mit ihrer Firma, die mittlerweile fünf fest angestellte Mitarbeiter beschäftigt und seit gut einem Jahr schwarze Zahlen schreibt, haben Jungebluth und Schulz letztlich den richtigen Zeitpunkt abgepasst. In der solventen Mittelschicht ist der Hund in den vergangenen Jahren vom Aufpasser und Spielkameraden zum Sozialpartner aufgestiegen, der in der Planung von Berufstätigkeit, Freizeit und Urlaub angemessen berücksichtigt wird. So wie bei den beiden Gründern, wo sich zu Labrador Johan mittlerweile ein quirliger Windhund namens Freddie gesellt hat. Bei so manchem zieht nach dem Scheitern der Ehe ein Hund statt eines neuen zweibeinigen Lebenspartners ein, bei vielen Paaren ersetzt der Hund das eigene Kind. Für das Wohlergehen eines solchen Familienmitglieds scheut man keine Kosten, sei es für Biofutter in Lebensmittelqualität, für Urlaubsquartiere mit nahe gelegenem Hundestrand oder für Stunden beim Benimm-Trainer – auf dass es seine Beine nach ausgiebigem Auslauf traumselig auf einer wertig gefertigten Bettstatt ausstrecken kann. ---

There’s no reason to deny it: my mixed breed Nico is a spoiled dog. I adopted her from an Italian shelter, where she lived for 1,5 years after being rescued from a flood at the age of one. So why shouldn’t she be spoiled? She has multiple beds, cushions and blankets (in the office, at home, in the car), eats fine raw food, and I always have an assortment of snacks ready. Spoiling her is one of my favorite things, not because she needs it, but deserves it for being the best dog ever. Where do I get all that treats for her, you ask? At my favorite shops for dogs in Berlin! This is my favorite shop for dogs in Berlin: it’s a spacious, and very well designed store with the best selection of dog stuff – so it’s actually a good thing it’s not really close to my regular paths because otherwise all my money would be spent here. And Nico loves it too: dogs are showered with attention (and treats) by the super friendly and knowledgable staff. They carry a big assortment of natural dog food – kibble and wet food – all by small, trusted suppliers. As well as a choice of frozen meats and meals by Paul und Paulina, a Bavarian supplier I get all my meat from because the delivery is super easy and the meat is the best quality I found on the dog meat market. Besides these necessary nourishments, Sonnenberg has a giant bar of snacks, all from their own trustworthy sources, leashes, harnesses, collars, books, cosmetics, and toys, as well as the biggest dog bed selection in Berlin – from local label Cloud 7, British Mungo and Maud and more affordable choices. A must for any spoiled pup.

Located just by Volkspark Friedrichshain this is a detour your dog will love – with a small but well selected range of products from their own collar designs, dog wear, leashes and toys, as well as food by carefully selected suppliers, and organic and local frozen meat, pure and with veggies, and loads of snacks. As an add-on, they’re offering dog photo shooting to create frame-worthy pictures of your beloved pet.

Bones for Dogs

If you decide to feed your dog the Barf way with fresh meats, bones, plus the necessary vegetables and carbs, you will be very interested in this shop. There’s a couple of dog meat shops around, I find most of their meat questionable in quality (which is why I order mine from Bavaria), but had pretty good experience with this one in Friedrichshain. Not only because the staff knows basically everything about Barf feeding, but the meat is fresh and doesn’t turn grey and smelly after a day in the fridge. In case you’ve never been to a dog meat shop – it looks like a regular butcher, just that the parts of the animal sold here are usually neglected: paunch, trachea, tripe, gullet, offals and tails, and more, fresh and frozen, as well as all the necessary oils and supplements. Your dog will love it, that’s for sure.

If you want to feed your dog a natural and fresh diet, but don’t have the time or the wish to go into the efforts of preparing it, this one might be the right thing for you: Pets Deli is a delivery service and a dog restaurant preparing and serving fresh meals to your best canine friend. The varieties are a bit more extravagant, for example kangaroo with carrot, deer with apple and pumpkin, or water buffalo with potatoes and carrots, but the food is always fresh and of good quality. In store, you can get them fresh and frozen, as well as a choice of treats that my dog likes a lot – like chewing roots and antlers, as well as dried meat snacks. They also have a cute, little dog imbiss by Grunewaldsee, that is open every Sunday and serves fresh food and snacks to hungry pups.

welcome to Berlin! You can find raw dog food (I’m guessing: meat?), in frozen form from my fav supplier at Sonnenberg. Pet’s Deli has full fresh meals, but there are also some special dog butchers in town: Hundekuss in Kreuzberg’s Wrangelstraße, Barfer’s Wellfood at Kreuzberg’s Heimstraße, Bones for Dogs at Friedrichshain’s Glatzer Straße – these are the ones I know and like, but there are loads more, google BARF and Berlin, or your district. I’m sure you’ll find one you like

I am wondering where I can find a great smelling natural shampoo + conditioner for my Labrador , or perhaps you know of a store that sells the brand Earthbath? I would prefer a more accessible alternative though. Thanks again!
