The 189-year old Vegetarian Dog

Many of us have heard that a vegan, plant-based diet can extend the lifespan of a human being, but did you know that this can be true for our canine friends, too?

Enter Bramble, a blue merle Collie from the United Kingdom who once held the Guinness World Record for oldest living dog. How old was she? A whopping 189 dog years, which equals 27 human years! Bramble thrived on an exclusively vegetarian diet, ate one meal of lentils, rice, and organic veggies each day, and got plenty of exercise.

Bramble was the companion animal to Anne Heritage, a vegan. Heritage calls Bramble an inspiration: “[She] just goes to show that if you eat the right things and keep on exercising, you can extend your life.”

Kalter Hund (German Chocolate and Cookie Dessert)

YIELD:

Ingredients Nutrition

• 150 ml rice cream (soy might also work, but I have not tried that, if non-vegan just use regular cream)
• 250 g bittersweet chocolate, broken into pieces (make sure its vegan)
• 1 banana, sliced
• 100 g vegan cookies (I used digestives)

Directions

1. Heat your rice cream on the stove-top or in the microwave (I used a microwave-safe bowl and heated the cream at 765 watts for 1:20 min).
2. Add in the chocolate pieces and stir until smooth.
3. Line a small loaf pan (about 7X3 inches) with cling film and start assembling your dessert by covering the base of the pan with chocolate.
4. Continue by layering cookies, banana and chocolate into the pan until you have used up everything. The last layer should be chocolate (I got 9 layers in total).
5. Place dessert in the fridge and chill for at least 3 hours, best overnight.
6. Slice and enjoy. :) Its great with additional fruit.

Omas Kalter Hund

habe ich nun zwei Rezepte ausprobiert, denn ich wollte unbedingt ein passendes Rezept finden.

Das erste Rezept ist mit Kokosöl & Kakaobutter & somit sehr teuer. Die zweite Variante ist mit Margarine, Puderzucker & rohem Kakao. Diese Variante konnte leider überhaupt nicht überzeugen. Sie ist eher für eine Créme für Cupcakes oder als Topping für einen Schokokuchen geeignet. Das fand auch meine Familie. Die schärfsten Kritiker, wenn es um veganes Essen geht.

Oma hat das Rezept mit dem Kokosöl & der Kakaobutter für sehr gut befunden. Es kommt optisch & geschmacklich dem Original am Nähesten. Überzeug dich selbst.

100 g roher Kakao // 100 g Kakaobutter // 10 EL Kokosöl // 100 ml Agavendicksaft // 1/2 TL Vanillepulver // 1 Prise Salz // 1 Pck. Kekse

Die Kakaobutter über einem Wasserbad schmelzen. Das Kokosöl, falls noch fest, ebenfalls in einem lauwarmen Wasserbad erwärmen. Mit Ausnahme der Kekse alle weiteren Zutaten in eine Schüssel geben. Die geschmolzenen Fette dazugeben & gründlich verrühren. Nach dem Abschmecken kann noch etwas Agavendicksaft hinzugefügt werden. Mit der Kakaomasse den Boden einer mit Backpapier ausgelegten Kastenform oder einer Silikonkastenform ausstreichen & die erste Lage Kekse gleichmäßig darauf verteilen. Auf diese wiederum etwas von der Masse verteilen, sodass kein Keks mehr zu sehen ist. So weiter fortfahren & mit einer Schicht Kakaomasse abschließen. Anschließend eine Stunde oder über Nacht im Kühlschrank kaltstellen.

250 g Margarine // 500 g Puderzucker // 4 EL roher Kakao // 1 Pck. vegane Kekse

Zubereitungszeit: 20 Minuten + 1 h Kühlzeit

Ich habe die Kekse bei der Bio Company gekauft. Den Namen weiß ich gerade nicht, werde ihn aber in Erfahrung bringen. ;-)

Ich war in 3 Bio Company Filialen & die Haferkekse, die ich für dieses Rezept verwendete haben sie nicht mehr im Sortiment.

Himmelskt god chokladmousse

Det här är utan tvekan den godaste och bästa chokladmoussen jag ätit. Testa, jag tror du kommer bli förvånad över hur krämig och underbart chokladig den är. Medjol-dadlarna finns oftast på lösvikt och är fantastiskt goda.

Chokladmousse, 2 portioner

6 st Medjol dadlar

2 st stora, mogna avokados

1.Börja med att plocka ur kärnorna ur så väl dadlar som avokados.

2.Använd sedan en matberedare för att först hacka sönder dadlarna.

3.Tillsätt sedan avokadosarna och kör matberedaren en liten stund tills det hela bildat en krämig mousse. Tillsätt därefter kakaon.

4.Skeda upp eller spritsa sedan moussen i snygga glas och toppa med bär eller frukter.

Detta är en av mina absoluta favoritdesserter. Den är försvinnande god men också mättande. Mums!
