For Collies and related dog breeds the recommended dosing has to be followed strictly. The Milbemax tolerance of young puppies of these breeds has not been investigated as of yet.

Milbemax är välbeprövat och är marknadsledande i många länder. Milbemax kan användas til dräktiga och digivande djur samt känsliga raser tex. collie raser, inom rekommenderad dosering.

Valpar avmaskas vid 2 veckors ålder (även tiken). Därefter varannan till var fjärde vecka upp till 3 månaders ålder. Vuxna hundar avmaskas vid tecken på mask, efter diagnos eller vid högt smittryck flera gånger/år. Riskgrupper är till exempel kennel-, bruks- och jakthundar samt hundar som reser.

Om du ska ta med hunden eller katten på resa bör du rådfråga din veterinär om avmaskning behövs, eftersom det på många platser finns risk att din hund eller katt smittas av mask och i vissa fall även risk för vidaresmitta till människa. Spridning av parasiter är ett allmänt problem och vi bör alla ta ansvar för att minska riskerna. Därför är det bra om du låter behandla ditt djur även om det inte är ett krav i det land eller de länder du ska resa till.

I vissa länder krävs att hundar och katter behandlas mot rävens dvärgbandmask innan de förs in i landet. För Storbritannien, Irland, Finland, Malta och Norge gäller att hunden måste behandlas 1-5 dagar före inresa. Avmaskningen ska göras med en produkt som innehåller prazikvantel eller epsiprantel och ska utföras av veterinär. Om du reser till Norge eller Finland regelbundet kan du i stället behandla djuret var 28:e dag.

Det är viktigt att vara medveten om att hundar också kan smittas med andra infektionssjukdomar. En del av dessa ger inga symtom förrän långt efter att hunden har smittats och djurägaren ansvarar för att förebygga sjukdom. Innan du tar med hunden på resa bör du därför rådgöra med din veterinär om vad du kan göra för att minska risken för att hunden utsätts för smitta.

I Medelhavsområdet finns bland annat infektionssjukdomen leishmanios, som överförs till hund via sandmyggor. Leishmanios kan utvecklas till en allvarlig systemisk sjukdom som kan kräva livslång behandling. Därför bör hunden skyddas under resan med en produkt som förhindrar myggbett. Dessutom är det klokt att hålla hunden inomhus på kvällen och natten.

Avmaskning hunden med Milbemax

Milbemax är både framgångsrikt använts för behandling av rundmaskar och även för behandling av bandmaskar. Medlen kommer att användas för hakmask, spolmask, bandmaskar, piskmask och lungmaskar och dödar parasiterna snabbt. Likaså är det används profylaktiskt i en hjärtmask. Milbemax vet kan också användas i dräktiga tikar och valpar från den tredje veckan i livet.

• Finns är det medel i form av tabletter och doseras efter kroppsvikt av hunden. Valpar behöver som vuxna hundar är avmaskade och med kortare intervall Milbemax behandlas för små hundar. En kroppsvikt av 500 gram, kan medlet appliceras.

• Större hundar bör avmaskas var tredje månad, eller att granska ett avföringsprov från din hunds veterinär för parasiter med misstänksamhet. Om resultaten är negativa, då får inte få wormer din hund. Annars inrättades enligt instruktionerna och fastställa den exakta kroppsvikt på din hund. Om för lite Milbemax administreras kan läkemedlet inte och hunden kommer inte att bli av med maskar.

Om en felaktig dosering eller intolerans, det kan, i likhet med alla andra läkemedel också orsaka biverkningar eller obehag.

Hundewelpen

Hundewelpen sollten im Alter von 2 Wochen und danach in einem 2-wöchigen Abstand bis 2 Wochen nach der Aufnahme der letzten Muttermilch entwurmt werden. Anschließend 1x im Monat bis zu einem Alter von 6 Monaten.

Hunde über 6 Monate

Hunde älter als 6 Monate sollten 4 mal pro Jahr behandelt werden, oder je nach parasitologischem Befund, es sei denn es wird eine Herzwurm- und/oder Echinococcus-Kontrolle gewünscht, für die monatlich behandelt werden muss.

Die Verabreichung zur Herzwurmprophylaxe erfolgt innerhalb eines Monats nach Anfang der Mückenexposition und endet innerhalb eines Monats nach Ende der Mückenexposition. Zur Bekämpfung des Angiostrongylus-Befalls wird Milbemax viermal im wöchentlichen Abstand verabreicht. Idealerweise sollte bei der Herzwurmprophylaxe die Tablette jeden Monat am selben Tag verabreicht werden.

Zusammensetzung und Wirkstoffe

Für große Hunde: Wirkstoffe: Milbemycin-Oxim 12,5 mg, Praziquantel 125 mg Excipiens pro compr.

Für kleine Hunde und Welpen:: Wirkstoffe: Milbemycin-Oxim 2,5 mg, Praziquantel 25 mg Excipiens pro compr.

Product Description

Milbemax wormer for dogs and puppies is a complete worming solution. Milbemax protects against heartworm and all major intestinal worms in dogs, including hookworm, roundworm, whipworm and tapeworm. All this by giving a small and convenient tablet once a month.

Should not be given to heartworm positive dogs or dogs of unknown heartworm status.

Dosage and Administration

Give 1 tablet once a month for dogs in the indicated bodyweight range. Easy!

Andre orm hos hund

De fleste hunde får indvoldsorm en eller flere gange i løbet af livet. Hvalpe har som udgangspunkt spolorm og bør behandles flere gange inden de flytter til det nye hjem og gerne en ekstra gang efter flytningen. Efterhånden som hunden bliver ældre, bliver den mindre modtagelig for orm, men det kan stadigvæk være nødvendigt at behandle med ormemiddel.

Det kan være svært at vide om hunden har orm, for man kan sjældent se om hunden har det eller ikke. Det er en myte at man altid kan se ormene, det er faktisk de færreste orm som kan ses. Mange orm udskiller mikroskopiske æg eller larver som kræver en undersøgelse på laboratoriet for at opdage. Nogle hunde er dog mere udsatte end andre.

Generelle retningslinjer om orm hos hunde

• Diarre, vægttab, mavebesvær og mat pels kan være tegn på orm
• Hunde som jager byttedyr er særligt udsatte for bændelorm
• Jagt-og brugshunde er mere udsatte for at have flere slags orm end andre hunde
• Unge hunde < 1 år er langt mere udsat for rundorm end ældre hunde
• Sneglespisende/altædende hunde er særligt udsatte for hjertelungeorm
• Hunde med nedsat immunforsvar har sværere ved at bekæmpe en ormebyrde
• Hvalpe skal behandles hver 2-3 uge mod spolorm indtil de er flyttet hjemmefra

En almindeligt kendt rundorm er spolorm, som især hvalpe kan være hårdt ramt af, men ses også hos voksne hunde. Den kan smitte til mennesker, hvor larverne vandrer rundt i kroppen. Heldigvis er det sjældent at mennesker smittes, men børn er mere udsatte end voksne. Spolormens larver modnes ikke i mennesket og det smitter ikke fra person til person. I nogle tilfælde udvikles der symptomer på sygdom, når larverne vandrer gennem kroppen.

Hjertelungeorm (Angiostrongylus vasorum) kan være dødelig for hunde og kan ikke smitte til mennesker. Den er udbredt i hele Danmark, især i de østlige egne. Hunde smittes ved at spise eller slikke på snegle eller vådt snegleslim.

Andre Taenia arter kan blive op til 5 meter. Mellemværter er større drøvtyggere som geder og kvæg. Fodres en hund med rå organer fra en smittet drøvtygger kan den smittes med denne bændelorm. På billedet ses de led som man kan opdage i hundens afføring, de er ofte helt vide.

Rævens dværgbændelorm adskiller sig fra andre bændelorm. Den er væsentligt mindre end de andre (1-3 mm), men kan til gengæld findes i meget store antal. En ræv fra Højer viste sig at have en ormebyrde på 1527 bændelorme.

Man kan ikke se dens æg i hundens afføring, men der kan være mange af dem. På billedet kan man se hvor lille den voksne dværgbændelorm er.

Rævens dværgbændelorm hedder også Echinococcus multilocularis. Det er en lille parasit, som ræve og hunde kan være bærere af og som kan smitte mennesker. Heldigvis er den stadigvæk meget sjælden i Danmark, men i dag anser man at risikoen for smitte kan være spredt til hele landet.

I år 2000 fandt man det første fund i Skandinavien. Det var en trafikdræbt ræv ved Tåstrup, hvor man ved obduktionen opdagede parasitten. En undersøgelse fra 2011, hvor DTU rutinemæssigt undersøgte dræbte dyr fra vildtbestanden, fandt parasitten i Sønderjylland, specielt ved Højer. I februar 2014 fandt man en positiv ræv ved Grindsted, ca. 100 km fra det område, hvor man troede at smitten var begrænset til. Det betyder at smitten anses for at udbredt i hele Danmark. Den er desuden udbredt i store dele af Europa, især i den centrale og østlige egne.

Hundeejere bliver nu rådet til at være opmærksomme på at ormebehandle deres hund regelmæssigt mod bændelorm, hvis den færdes frit og kan finde på at spise byttedyr. Læs mere om Rævens dværgbændelorm og hvad du som hundeejere skal være opmærksom på.
