MENTALITET

En chow chow er en selvstændig, grænsende til det egenrådige. Kærlig og hengiven i familien, hvor den ofte vælger et bestemt medlem som sin favorit. Over for fremmede er den ofte noget reserveret. Chow chow'en opsøger ikke selv slagsmål, men den kan blive meget vred, hvis den føler sig provokeret. Racens specielle psyke kræver stor forståelse.

En chow chow behøver et godt socialt liv og jævnlig motion. Fodringen kræver omhu, da racen spiser mindre end andre af tilsvarende størrelse, og da den har svært ved at omsætte proteinrigt foder.

AKTIVITETSNIVEAU OG HANDLERADIUS

At chow chow ikke kan lide at bevæge sig er en skrøne og en undskyldning for dovne ejere. Den er hurtig på korte afstande og udholdende på lange ture. Dens styltede gang har baggrund i de ujævne og klippefyldte områder, hvor den oprindelig kommer fra.

PELS OG PLEJE

Der er to pelsvarianter, begge med opretstående dækhår og tæt, blød underuld. Den langhårede chow behøver en del pelspleje, der skal indlæres fra hvalp, så det bliver en hyggestund. Regn med mindst en times arbejde om ugen. Den korthårede er mindre tidkrævende.

TIPS OG TRICKS TIL INDLÆRING OG HÅNDTERING

En chow chows selvstændige væsen kan på nogle områder sammenlignes med en kats. Indlæring gennem tvang er umuligt, men med positiv påvirkning kommer man langt. Den kan ikke tvinges til noget, men den kan lokkes til meget med belønninger, den værdsætter.

Hanner 48-56 cm. Tæver 46-51 cm.

Ensfarvet sort, rød, blå, fawn, creme eller hvid.

OPRINDELSE

Chow chow med den karakteristiske blå tunge er over 4000 år gammel. Den blev oprindelig brugt som jagt-, vagt- og trækhund i Mongoliet og Manchuriet. I forbindelse med de mange krige i området bragte kineserne mongolernes hund med til Kina, hvor den fik høj social status. På grund af udseendet blev den senere tempelhund, og chow chow og pekingeser blev betragtet som Buddhas hellige løver, der skulle skræmme dæmoner væk. Racen kom til Europa med britiske søfolk i 1700-tallet som selskabshund.

Put on the computer what the public asks for, not everything about the US.

I asked for a total medal count. I have been looking for 20 minutes and still cannot find it.

I also asked for a specific medal count for a specific country and got a history of when they first started to compete in the Olympics. I asked for a medal count for 2018, as of today,

not a history of that country.

Chow Chow’ens historie

Chow Chow’en er en af verdens ældste hunderacer, den har eksisteret i ca. 3.000 – 4.000 år med oprindelse fra Mongoliet og det nordlige Kina. Chow Chow’en menes at ligge bag hunderacer som Samojedhund, Norsk Elghund, Pomeranian, Keeshond. Historisk blev Chow Chows opdrættet og fremavlet som hyrde og vagthunde. Chow Chow’ens karakteristika

Racens unikke kendetegn er den blå tunge og en meget selvstændig personlighed. De lige bagben med minimale vinkler giver racen en karakteristisk styltede gangart, som er helt særegen for racen.

Mentalitet

Der ligger århundreders stolthed gemt i Chow Chow’ens sind. Den nedarvede mistro og reserverthed overfor fremmede, samt dens ubestikkelige troskab til sine kære, gør denne, den sidste individualist, til en særpræget personlighed blandt alle hunderacer.

Chow Chow’en er arrogant, stolt og følger sit eget hoved. På mange punkter minder den om en kat og lever efter konceptet ”jeg er sgu’ min egen”. Den vil dø for dig, men ikke altid lystre dig. Den vil følges med dig, men ikke ligefrem i hælene på dig. Hvis du forstår dens specielle psyke og behandler den derefter kan du få en ven for livet.

Chow chow’en er en vidunderlig vagthund, der kun gør, når det er nødvendigt, men hele dens udseende kan virke skræmmende på enhver uvelkommen besøgende. Den er ikke angrebslysten; vil helst blot trække sig tilbage, og forlader ofte stuen, når der er gæster. Tager man i betragtning, at det ikke er så længe siden, Chow Chow’ens forfædre måtte føre en stadig kamp for overhovedet at overleve, idet de levede en yderst barsk tilværelse i Centralasien, kan det ikke overraske nogen, at de kan have lidt medfødt mistro til fremmede.

Helhedsindtryk

Kompakt, tætbygget og – som det væsentlige – meget harmonisk. Løveagtigt udseende, med stolt og værdig holdning og godt sat sammen. Halen bæres godt over ryggen.

Skulderhøjde for hanner er 48 – 56 cm. For tæver er det 46 – 51 cm.

Farver og pelsvarianter

En Chow Chow kan være enten lang- eller korthåret – og skal altid være ensfarvet sort, rød, blå, fawn eller creme. Ofte med schatteringer, men ikke plettet eller flerfarvet (halens underside og baglårene har ofte en lysere farve).

Langhåret: Fyldigt, rigeligt og tæt, lige og stående ud fra kroppen. Yderpelsen er af ret grov struktur, med en blød og ulden underpels. Pelsen er særlig tyk omkring halsen, hvor den danner en manke eller halskrave, samt på baglårene, som har fyldige ”bukser”.

Korthåret: Pelsen kort, rigelig og tæt, med lige, opretstående pelshår – ikke fladt tilliggende. Strukturen er plysagtig.

En Chow Chow kræver regelmæssig pelspleje. Hunden skal børstes for at undgå sammenfiltring. Nogle Chow Chow’er skal børstes en gang om ugen, mens andre kan nøjes med et par gange om måneden. Racen fælder kraftigt 2 gange om året, og i denne periode kræver pelsen ekstra pleje.

Aktivitetsniveau

Chow Chow’en kræver ikke megen motion, men den vil meget gerne lige ud og "læse avisen". Naturligvis har den brug for nye impulser og oplevelser, så gør dig selv den tjeneste og tag din hund med ud på opdagelse. Chow Chow’en elsker en tur i skoven eller ved andre naturområder.

Chow Chow’ens vågne jagtinstinkt gør det tilrådeligt at føre den i snor på gader og i åbent terræn. Med en god flexi-line kan den stadig røre sig på den daglige gåtur.

Chow chow’er er i reglen meget nemme at gøre renlige. I de fleste tilfælde er de faktisk renlige fra det øjeblik, du henter din hvalp hos opdrætteren.

Opdragelse

Chow Chow’en er arrogant, stolt og følger sit eget hoved. Forlanger du blind lydighed af din hund og at den skal underkaste sig din disciplin og forgude den jord, du træder på, så vælg ikke denne asiat.

En Chow Chow er ikke en appelhund. Hård tone og høje kommandoråb lader den helt upåvirket. Den er ikke en hund, der kan tvinges til underkastelse. Den er sig selv (næsten som en kat).

Chow chow Г¤r en hundras som de flesta kГ¤nner igen bГҐde till utseendet och till namnet. MГҐnga kГ¤nner igen som den dГ¤r nallebjГ¶rnsgulliga hunden med blГҐ tunga, men tyvГ¤rr finns det mГҐnga vanfГ¶restГ¤llningar och fГ¶rdomar om rasen ocksГҐ.

Chow chow Г¤r en lГ¤tt hund att leva med. Den krГ¤ver inte sГҐ mycket frГҐn sin Г¤gare, sГҐ den passar fГ¶r den som vill ha en trevlig och lojal sГ¤llskapshund. DГ¤remot sГҐ ska man inte luras att tro att chowen Г¤r en slГ¶ hund, fГ¶r Г¤ven om den inte krГ¤ver flera timmars motion varje dag, sГҐ hГ¤nger den gГ¤rna med Г¤ven pГҐ lГҐngpromenaden.

De flesta har hГ¶rt talas om hur envis en chow chow Г¤r och de hamnar stГ¤ndigt pГҐ listan Г¶ver de "dummaste" hundraserna. Helt klart Г¤r chowen en mycket sjГ¤lvstГ¤ndig hund och det ligger inte i dess natur att lyda sin Г¤gares minsta vink, men obildbar Г¤r den absolut inte. Kanske inte rГ¤tt ras fГ¶r den som tГ¤nkt sig en karriГ¤r pГҐ lydnadsplanen, men visst kan man prova pГҐ det mesta med sin chow. MГҐnga chowar har ett stort spГҐrintresse, sГҐ bГҐde viltspГҐr och personspГҐr kan vara lГ¤mpliga grenar att prova pГҐ med sin chow. Inom rasen finns en tjГ¤nstehund (hemvГ¤rnet).

Chow chow Г¤r ursprungligen bl a en jakthund och detta lever kvar Г¤n idag i form av en rejГ¤l portion jaktlust. Detta gГ¶r att man mГҐste trГ¤na redan den lilla valpen pГҐ att vara lГ¶s fГ¶r att man ska kunna ha hunden lГ¶s som vuxen.

Chowen mГҐste, liksom alla andra hundraser uppfostras fГ¶r att bli den trevliga hund man vill ha. Det Г¤r ingen egentlig skillnad pГҐ att uppfostra en chow mot mot fГ¶r att uppfostra en hund av annan ras. En chow chow kan bli precis sГҐ egen och envis som Г¤garen sjГ¤lv tillГҐter, men en riktigt uppfostrad och socialiserad chow Г¤r en frГ¶jd att leva med.

MГҐnga undrar om chow chow Г¤r bra med barn. I mГҐnga bГ¶cker hГ¤vdas att sГҐ inte Г¤r fallet, men mГҐnga Г¤r de barnfamiljer som kan skriva under pГҐ att det fungerar utmГ¤rkt med en chow i huset. Liksom med alla hundar sГҐ gГ¤ller det att hunden fГҐr umgГҐs med snГ¤lla barn och fГ¶rstГҐndiga fГ¶rГ¤ldrar. Hur gullig och kramgo chowen Г¤n mГҐ se ut sГҐ mГҐste man komma ihГҐg att den mГҐste fГҐ ha en barnfri fristad dit den kan dra sig undan nГ¤r det blir fГ¶r livat. Detta Г¤r ju samma som fГ¶r vilken hundras som helst.

Chow chow har i regel inga problem att umgГҐs med andra hundar. Dock kan dess sГ¤tt ibland provocera andra hundar, som inte Г¤r van vid chowens sГ¤tt. Chowen Г¤r nГ¤mligen ingen undergiven hund, utan brukar liksom flyta lite ovanpГҐ och vara ganska ointresserad av andra hundar.

En mycket vanlig fГ¶rdom om chow chow Г¤r att rasen Г¤r aggressiv. Detta Г¤r inte sant. Det Г¤r lika ovanligt som otypiskt med en aggressiv chow chow. Denna fГ¶rdom bottnar nog i att rasen under sina fГ¶rsta decennier i Sverige hade ett betydligt vassare temperament Г¤n vad man ser idag. Tack vare duktiga uppfГ¶dare sГҐ har rasen idag en stabil mentalitet, dГ¤r rasens typiska reserverade instГ¤llning till frГ¤mmande mГ¤nniskor inte ska blandas ihop med rГ¤dsla.

Rasen anses ofta Г¤ven vara en utprГ¤glad enmanshund. Sanningen Г¤r snarare att den Г¤r vГ¤ldigt knuten till hela sin familj. VГ¤nner utanfГ¶r familjen hГ¤lsas ofta ocksГҐ glatt vГ¤lkommen, medan Г¶vriga mГ¤nniskor brukar visas mycket lite intresse.

Vem passar chowen fГ¶r? Ja, vem som helst som vill ha en trevlig sГ¤llskapshund som kan tГ¤nka sjГ¤lv, som dyrkar marken Г¤garen gГҐr pГҐ utan att vara klГ¤ngig eller osjГ¤lvstГ¤ndig.

Mehr Bär als Hund?

Keine Frage: Der Chow Chow ist anders. Seine Ursprünglichkeit und gewisse Körpermerkmale – wie die blaue Zunge und die spezielle Schädelform – erinnern eher an einige fernöstliche Bärenarten. Bewiesen ist in dieser Frage allerdings nichts, und so suchen Experten weiter nach den wahren Vorfahren des spitzartigen Hundes.

Gesichert ist allerdings, dass bereits im 11. Jahrhundert vor Christus sogenannte „Tartarenhunde“ vorkamen, die dem heutigen Chow Chow sehr ähnlich waren. Später war der Hund in China eine der wenigen Rassen, die auch vom Volk gehalten wurde. So erfreute er sich zwar einer größeren Verbreitung als die Hof- und Palasthunde, musste allerdings auch Hundekämpfe durchstehen und wurde sogar zum Fleischlieferanten. Sein Name bedeutet denn auch soviel wie „essbar“ oder „lecker-lecker“, kann aber auch mit „Rarität aus Fernost“ übersetzt werden. Wie auch immer, der heute vor allem in den USA sehr beliebte Hund steht schon lange nicht mehr ganz oben auf der Speiseliste der Chinesen. Seine Verbreitung in Europa begann im 19. Jahrhundert und ist bis heute recht stabil, wenn auch zuletzt rückläufige Zahlen gemeldet wurden.

Chow Chow: Ein Hund mit ganz eigenem Charakter

Wie bei vielen Hunderassen, spielt auch beim Chow Chow die Erziehung eine immens wichtige Rolle. Verfolgt man dabei keine konsequente Linie oder beginnt schlicht zu spät mit der Ausbildung, kann das Leben mit dem Chinesen sehr schwer werden. Die Blauzungen haben ihren eigenen Kopf und werden auch bei strengen Vorgaben jeden Befehl zunächst abwägen. Wer seinem Hund aber schon früh zeigt, dass er geliebt wird und dies auch durch häufiges Streicheln untermalt, der kann sich nicht nur über einen treuen Begleiter, sondern auch über einen fidelen Familienhund freuen. Sein stabiles und ausgeglichenes Wesen macht zudem den Umgang mit Kindern leicht: Er erträgt auch derberes Rumtollen und weiß genau einzuschätzen, wann er genug hat und es Zeit wird, sich zurück zu ziehen. Trotzdem bleibt der eigene Charakter des Sonderlings bestehen, und so gilt das Urteil: Dieser Hund ist nichts für Anfänger oder Feierabend-Hundehalter.

Fellpflege erhält die Schönheit

Ein schönes Fell will erhalten sein – und so steht beim Chow Chow die Pflege des Fells im Mittelpunkt des Wellness-Programms. Übertreiben muss man es dennoch nicht: Wer auch mal ein paar Tage auf ausgiebiges Bürsten verzichtet, wird beim Anblick seines Hundes sicher nicht gleich erschrecken. Die Schönheit erhält man übrigens auch durch Vitaminzusätze, die den üblichen Fleisch- oder Trockenfutterrationen beigemengt werden.

Stadt und Chow Chow?

Ein Hund von der Größe des Chow Chows sollte nicht in einer kleinen Etagenwohnung gehalten werden. Die Haltung in der Stadt ist dennoch nicht ausgeschlossen, denn trotz seiner gelegentlich auftretenden Eigenheiten, ist das Langhaar durchaus anpassungsfähig. Ein Garten mit schattigen Ecken wäre dennoch von großem Vorteil für den Hund. Der Fernostler liebt es nämlich, ein eigenes Revier zu hüten, ist gern im Freien, braucht dabei aber Schutz vor sengender Hitze. Letztere führt bei ihm schnell zum inneren Austrocknen und schadet damit seiner Gesundheit.

Adorable flauschigen chow manchmal auch als "Bär" und es bedeutet, ein "teddy" in der Natur - einige langsam und zahm.

In der Tat ist es nicht. Chow in der Lage eine schnelle Reaktion auf jede Handlung, ist seine Reaktion extrem schnell. Ansonsten ist der Chow Chow wirklich sehr gutmütiger Hund, der nur selten dauert eine negative Einstellung. Wenn er aggressiv ist, ist es nur in Bezug auf andere Hunde.

Put on the computer what the public asks for, not everything about the US.

I asked for a total medal count. I have been looking for 20 minutes and still cannot find it.

I also asked for a specific medal count for a specific country and got a history of when they first started to compete in the Olympics. I asked for a medal count for 2018, as of today,

not a history of that country.
