Der Hund "Wüffi" lag Weihnachten 2010 bei uns unter dem Baum. Am Bauch (etwas versteckt unterm Fell, beim Batteriefach) kann man den Hund 1. auf Aus stellen / 2. auf 3 Sekunden Laufen stellen und 3. Position auf 2 Minuten laufen stellen Somit ist ein Spielspaß gegeben! Leider läuft unser Hund nach nur 1 1/2 Wochen Gebrauch nicht mehr! Fehler noch nicht gefunden und leider bei der Bauweise , kann man ihn nicht weiter auseinander bauen. Schade!
Meine Tochter hat den Baby born Hund zum Geburtstag bekommen. Sie war als Baby born- und Hundefan natürlich sofort begeistert. Qualität und Zubehör sind wie meistens bei Baby born in Ordnung. Das einzige was zu kritisieren ist, dass die Lauffunktion meiner Meinung nach zu kurz ist. Dies hemmt einwenig den Spielspaß, deshalb habe ich einen Stern abgezogen.

Chow Chow Temperament
Good and Bad Aspects of the Chow Chow Temperament
The Chow Chow temperament is one of the most difficult to manage. This breed originated in China, and were used to hunt and to guard boats. Their nature is such that they are really only suitable for experienced and competent dog owners who can manage their aggressive and stubborn personality.
The increasing popularity of this breed in the 1980’s led to people believing they could make a quick few dollars by producing and selling Chow Chow puppies. This had a devastating effect on the dog’s temperament. While responsible breeders would never use aggressive animals in their breeding program, these new breeders were less concerned with this, and the Chow Chow became known for his antisocial disposition.

Aggression and How to Prevent It
This is the most dangerous of all dog temperaments, and it is extremely common in the Chow Chow. This dog is protective over his territory and his family, and won’t willingly allow people into his home and yard. He will growl and even bite an unwelcome visitor.
The Chow Chow is aggressive towards other dogs of the same gender. He will live harmoniously with a dog of a similar size, but of the opposite sex. He is definitely not suitable for homes with cats or other small animals as his strong instinct to hunt will take over. For this reason, he should never be let off leash because he will attack any other animals in his immediate vicinity.
You can prevent, or reduce, an aggressive dog temperament in your adult Chow Chow with a lot of hard work while he is young. It will be time consuming, and it may be expensive, but it is absolutely essential. He must start obedience training at puppy school, and be given the opportunity to mix with other puppies in a controlled environment. From there, regular dog training will remind him that you are in charge, and allow him to get used to other dogs of all shapes, sizes and genders.
How Trainable is the Chow Chow Temperament?
In a nutshell, not at all. This dog is extremely dominant, and doesn’t like anyone telling him what he can and can’t do. He doesn’t appear to be particularly concerned about pleasing his owner either, so you need to find another motivator for him. Otherwise, he’ll just do what he wants to, with no regard for what you are trying to teach him. Fortunately the Chow Chow responds reasonably well to clicker training and food rewards.
One interesting feature of this particular dog temperament is that he is naturally quite well mannered when he is young. This can lull his owner into a false sense of security and by the time he becomes a teenager, you have a problem on your hands. He will resist your authority and have no respect for you at all. Don’t fall into this trap, and make sure you train and socialize your Chow Chow puppy, even if it appears that he doesn’t need it.
Never be tempted to use physical punishment to train your Chow Chow. It doesn’t work and given his aggressive tendencies and dominant nature, he may retaliate and bite you. Firm but fair leadership with positive training methods are the best way to teach your Chow Chow how to behave.
This is definitely not a breed I’d recommend for just anyone. He is aggressive, suspicious and protective of his loved ones. He is not very cuddly, so if you’re looking for a companion to snuggle up to on the couch, this is not the dog for you. However if you are an experienced dog owner and are attracted to dogs that are aloof and independent, then the Chow Chow temperament might just fit the bill.

Ny Chow Chow hvalp
Det kan være en god ide at besøge en eller flere opdrættere inden du køber en hvalp. Så får du mulighed for at møde nogle forskellige Chow Chow’er og du kan høre mere om racen. Det giver dig også mulighed for at få en god snak om det at få hvalp fra den pågældende opdrætter. De fleste opdrættere tager gerne en snak med kommende hvalpekøbere, også selvom de ikke lige har nogle hvalpe, der venter på et nyt hjem.
På klubbens parringsliste kan du følge med i hvilke opdrættere, der venter hvalpe og på hvalpelisten kan du se hvilke hvalpe der pt. er til salg.
Det er vigtigt at gøre sig nogle overvejelser om hvad man ønsker sig af sin hund og hvilket familieliv den kommer til at indgå i. Skal det være en udstillingshund eller familiehund? Er det vigtigt om det er en han/tæve eller hvilken farven hvalpen har? Er I en stor familie, lever I et aktivt ude-liv eller er I mere til inde aktiviteter.
Tag en god snak med opdrætteren om jeres overvejelser. Opdrætteren kender hvalpene godt og kan hjælpe med at matche hvilken hvalp i kuldet der passer bedst til dig/jer.
Hvis du gerne vil udstille
Hvis du synes det kunne være spændende at udstille er der her nogle gode råd når du kigger efter din nye hvalp:
- Vær på udkig efter en Chow Chow med en kort ryg og en højt ansat hale, der ligger lige hen ad ryggen - det bevirker at ryggen syner kortere end hvis halen falder til én af siderne.
- Benene er meget vigtige. De skal være stærke og kraftige. Bagbenene skal være næsten uden vinkler - dette medfører den styltede gang, som er et af racens særlige kendetegn.
- Vælg en hvalp med en bred skalle og små ører, ansat med en god afstand i mellem. Ørerne er ikke altid helt opretstående før hvalpen er ca. 2 måneder gammel. Hos nogle hvalpe varer det endnu længere inden ørene står helt op - det kan være fordi ørerne er blødere end ønskeligt, eller måske er ørerne store og derved tunge.
- En lang snude hører ikke til hos Chow Chow’en - det bør derfor undgås.
- Rene øjne er et krav. Nogle hvalpe lider af indadvendte øjenlåg (entropion) og skønt denne lidelse kan dukke op måneder senere, er det ikke ønskeligt at starte med en hvalp, som lider af denne sygdom. Rindende øjne kan også være resultatet af snue eller træk og har da ingen betydning på længere sigt. Det vil være ideelt med mandelformede øjne, men virkelig gode kineserøjne af denne facon, er desværre ikke så almindelige.
- Næsetippen skal være bred og sort. Det er dog tilladt med en lidt lysere næse hos de cremefarvede Chow’er. Hos blå og fawnfarvede hunde, er det tilladt at næsetippen er afstemt efter pelsfarven. Det understreges dog, at i alle tilfælde foretrækkes en sort næsetip.
- Chow Chow’en skal have saksebid - dvs. at overmundens fortænder tæt overlapper undermundens fortænder. Tænderne skal være placeret vinkelret på kæberne.
Hvalpebesøg
Når du er på hvalpebesøg bør du også se forældredyrene. Det er ikke sikkert at hanhunden er hos opdrætteren, men så kan de vise billeder af ham. Du skal ikke blive forskrækket, hvis tæven ikke er én stor skønhedsåbenbaring. Hun vil ofte have tabt al sin pels omkring den tid, hvor hvalpene er salgsklare, da al den næring hun indtager, går til at fostre hvalpene. Se evt. nogle billeder af hende, hvor hun også lever op til sit bedste.
Du kan også spørge til afstamningen, hvor kommer hundene fra, eventuelle sygdomme, temperament, hvorfor netop denne parring er lavet?
Det praktiske
En opdrætter kan ikke garantere, at du får en udstillingshund, ligesom det næsten er umuligt at stille garantier mod arvelige sygdomme. Hvad garantier, returret mm. angår skal det slås helt fast, at hunde og hundehvalpe sælges og købes i henhold til købeloven - det kan være en hjælp for afklaring af handlen, at benytte en særlig købsaftale fra DKK, som både køber og sælger skriver under på. Typisk har opdrætteren en DKK købsaftale klar ved handlens afslutning. Har opdrætteren en særlig købsaftale, skal du altid læse den indgående - den kan dog aldrig tilsidesætte minimumskrav i henhold til købeloven.
Sørg altid for at få en DKK stambog med på hunden og en blanket til DKK, hvor du står anført som ejer, hvis den da ikke allerede foreligger, når hvalpen skal ud i sit nye hjem. Det er omkostningsfrit for opdrætteren, at sørge for, at dit navn påføres hundens papirer.

I also asked for a specific medal count for a specific country and got a history of when they first started to compete in the Olympics. I asked for a medal count for 2018, as of today,
not a history of that country.

Description
The Chinese Shar-Pei is a large dog with wrinkled skin. It has a square profile with a broad, flat head. The muzzle is wide, padded and full, with a moderate stop. Like the Chow Chow, these dogs have a blue-black tongue. The teeth meet in a scissors bite. The small, sunken, almond-shaped eyes are dark, but may be lighter in dogs with a dilute colored coat. The high-set, triangular ears are very small and slightly rounded at the tips. The tail is thick at the base, tapering to a fine point and set extremely high. The dewclaws are sometimes removed. Both heavily wrinkled dogs with large heads and smaller-headed dogs with tighter-looking skin occur in this breed. Puppies have more wrinkles than adults. Shar-Pei slowly lose their wrinkles as they get older. There are three coat varieties: horse-coat, brush-coat and a rare bear-coat, which is not recognized by the AKC. The bear-coat does not fall within AKC standard because this particular Shar-Pei has an undercoat and a topcoat exceeding 1 inch. The popular theory about the bear-coat is that it's a "throwback" to the Chow-Chow. They are actually quite popular as pet quality Shar-Pei, albeit rare, and often confused with the Chow by unknowing owners as well as animal shelter workers. The unusual horse-coat is rough to the touch, extremely prickly and off-standing. The brush-coated variety has longer hair and a smoother feel. The coat on all varieties can be up to one inch in length. Coat colors include all solid colors and sables. There is also a lowered, spotted and a parti colored (flowered) Shar-Pei coat, which is a disqualifying fault in the show ring according to AKC standard.
Temperament
The Shar-Pei is very loyal to its handler. Intelligent playful, active, dominant, and brave, It bonds with its family, but is not unfriendly toward strangers. If the dog meets cats and children while it is still young, it usually will not have a problem with them. The Chinese Shar-Pei is easy-going, calm, independent and devoted. It makes a delightful companion and a good watchdog. The Shar-Pei needs a confident handler. If you are uncertain, inconsistent, too soft or mild in the dog's eyes, it will take over as the boss. The Shar-Pei needs a firm, but gentle, extremely consistent authority figure. The dog must be taught all humans are above him in the pecking order. Those who see themselves as above humans will be stubborn and bold. This breed needs firm obedience training to establish your leadership. They may refuse commands from family members who have not established leadership over them. They need an owner who has the ability to be "Top Dog" The Shar-Pei is generally not fond of water and often tries to avoid it. This breed is very clean and one of the easier breeds to housebreak. Mixing other dogs can sometimes be a problem if one of the dogs is displaying dominant behaviors. Socialization is important. However, some Shar-Pei are less dominant then others and show lines tend to be less dog-aggressive, mixing well with other dogs. Some Shar-Pei tend to slobber, especially when in pain. It is important to find a reputable breeder when seeking a Shar-Pei. This breed was very popular in the 1980s. It was referred to as one of the "Yuppie Puppies," meaning it was one of the breeds that were carelessly over-bred. The dog's temperament depends on how the owner treats the dog. Dogs that are allowed to believe they are the boss over humans will develop behavior issues. Dogs that are not taken for daily pack walks will also begin to display a varying degree of issues.

Height: 18 - 20 inches (46 – 51 cm)
Weight: 40 - 55 pounds (18 - 25 kg)
Health Problems
Prone to kidney failure (amolydosis) which causes a fever and swollen hocks syndrome. One misconception is that the Shar-Pei have skin problems due to their wrinkles. Yes, some Shar-Pei have skin problems, but it is not because the dog has wrinkles, but rather a hereditary condition. Due to over popularity in the 1980s, some Shar-Pei do have hereditary skin problems. However, if you buy from a reputable breeder, this condition should not be a problem. Prone to mast cell tumors. Be sure to find a breeder who strives for healthy dogs.
Living Conditions
The Chinese Shar-Pei will do okay in an apartment if it is sufficiently exercised. It is moderately active indoors and will do okay without a yard.
The Shar-Pei is sensitive to warm weather, partly due to the wrinkles on its head holding in the heat.
On hot days shade should always be provided. Water should be available at all times. Provided they get enough exercise, they will be very peaceful indoors.
The Chinese Shar-Pei has a considerable need for exercise, which includes a daily walk. While out on the walk, the dog must be made to heel beside or behind the person holding the lead, as in a dog's mind the leader leads the way, and that leader needs to be the human. Do not over exercise them in the heat, as they are sensitive to it.
Life Expectancy
The Shar-Pei should be brushed regularly. Their coat is never trimmed. This breed does not have an undercoat. The "bush" coat sheds a little year round, but the "horse" coat tends to shed only during molting periods. Molting may leave the dog looking unkempt. Bathing about once a week and brushing the coat daily during this period will remove the old dead hair and allow the new coat to grow in. The harsh coat can sometimes cause a problem with people who are prone to allergies.
The ancestry of the Shar-Pei is uncertain. Pictures on pottery suggest the breed had existed even as far back as 206 BC. It may be a descendant of the Chow Chow; however, the only clear link between the two breeds is the purple tongue. The name "Shar-Pei" means sandy coat. The dogs were used as multipurpose working farm dogs for the Chinese, hunting, tracking, as a ratter, herding, protecting stock, and guarding the home and family. The dogs happily worked all day long. It was also used in dog fighting events where the loose skin and extremely prickly coat made it hard for the other dog to grab onto. The Chinese believed that the image of the wrinkles and black pigmented mouth would scare off any evil spirits. During the Communist Revolution the Shar-Pei population dwindled. In 1973 a Hong Kong businessman named Matgo Law acquired a few of these dogs in an attempt to save the breed. He attracted people's attention through an American magazine. From those few dogs the Shar-Pei's numbers have risen tremendously and it is now one of the more popular breeds in the USA. The Chinese Shar-Pei was first recognized by the AKC in 1992. The breed has over 70,000 dogs registered as foundation stock.

"Sophie is a black Shar-Pei shown here as a 5 month old puppy. She has a lot of personality and is very opinionated about everything. She likes to chase the two cats we have (and be also be chased by them) and play with her squeak toys. Sophie has a lot of energy but uses the energy in quick bursts so once she's spent, she'll pass out on the cold kitchen floor for an hour. She can be bossy and is very much a little lady and princess, but that doesn't stop her from being extremely loving and affectionate. Sophie even talks with a variety of noises! She's really like a furry little person. After my best friend died from acute leukemia, a chocolate Labrador named Molly, who saved my life after we were both in a bad car accident, I was so completely devastated that I didn't want another dog. Sophie has been the polar opposite of Molly, but I couldn't love her anymore."

Empört euch besser
Rechte auf der Buchmesse, ein Kulturbanause im Weißen Haus, die Zeiten sind schlecht, ich weiß. Aber hilflos rumzuschreien und zu schubbsen, das bringt nichts. Im Gegenteil, diese aufgeheizte Stimmung ist der Nährboden, auf dem dieser braune Dreck erst so richtig gut gedeihen kann.
Stattdessen sollten wir lieber auf uns aufpassen, Menschen Jobs geben, sie gut bezahlen, sie gut behandeln, denn wer nichts zu verlieren hat, der ist eher zum Extremismus bereit als jemand, der ein ruhiges Leben mit seinen Lieben führt. Wir sollten uns über die Unterminierung des Mindestlohns aufregen, über Hartz 4, über Altersarmut. Dagegen sollten wir kämpfen. Natürlich haben wir nicht alle die Möglichkeit, das Leben der anderen zu verbessern. Aber wir alle können ein Klima schaffen, in dem die, die haben, sich verpflichtet fühlen, etwas für den großen Rest zu tun. Und wenn ihr schon unbedingt schreien und schubbsen wollt, dann macht das mit dem einen Prozent, das alles hat, davon nix abgeben will und dem es offenbar sehr gut gefällt, wenn wir uns hier unten gegenseitig an den Hals gehen und sie ungeschoren davonkommen lassen.
Warum immer so verschämt?
Als ich mir vorhin das choubook Blog angesehen habe, habe ich gemerkt, dass ich mich angesteckt habe. Warum entschuldige ich mich dafür, dass andere Leute Technik nicht auf die Reihe bringen? Warum habe ich mich von dieser Digital-Feindlichkeit anstecken lassen, die in diesem Land nicht nur latent vorhanden ist?
Warum das verschämt mit technischen Gründen begründen? Der Post wird jetzt geändert. Damit er das wiedergibt, woran wir hier glauben:

Weil nur dieses Umfeld uns die Möglichkeit gibt, Bücher voranzutreiben, Büchern mehr zu geben, Kinder und Erwachsene dazu zu bringen, Bücher wieder ‚cool‘ und ’sexy‘ zu finden. Wir arbeiten gern dafür, dass Bücher und ihr Inhalt wieder Aufmerksamkeit bekommen, die Aufmerksamkeit, die sie auch verdient haben. Wenn wir damit einige potentielle Leser ausgrenzen, dann tut uns das leid, aber es gibt Kompromisse, die man nicht eingehen soll, faule Kompromisse, die unsere Ideen ihrer Facetten berauben würden. Und vor allem bei der Eule werden wir das nicht zulassen.
Trotzdem überlegen wir, wie die Kleine Weiße Eule auch den Weg in die anderen Stores finden kann. Eine Lösung haben wir noch nicht gefunden und ich weiß auch nicht, ob sich das Vorhaben realisieren lässt. Der aktuelle Stand lässt Hoffnung nur sehr bedingt zu, zu viele Reader sind zwar schön leicht, aber auch farblos und stumm. Wir müssten das Eulchen seiner Stimme berauben und auch seine Farben würden vollkommen verblassen. Das ist keine Option, die ich ziehen will.
Alles neu macht der… Herbst
Hallo Ihr Lieben,
so langsam kommen wir hier endlich wieder in die Gänge. Die Hartgesottenen unter Euch haben bestimmt schon gemerkt, dass wir uns neue Themes für unsere Blogs gegönnt haben und ich kann versichern, dass es dabei nicht bleiben wird. Wir haben einiges auf unseren Zetteln, und die werden jetzt abgearbeitet. Wir hoffen, dass Euch das viel Spaß macht und wir Euch auf gar keinen Fall langweilen werden.
Warum immer die Mama?
Viele Kinder haben mich gefragt, warum ich immer so viel von meiner Mama erzähle. Sie sind froh, wenn sie allein spielen können und sich die Großen nicht immer einmischen.
Tja, bei mir war das anders. Ich bin doch damals schon so früh aus dem Nest gefallen und ohne meine Mama wäre ich heute nicht mehr da. Sie war meine Freundin, sie hat mich gegen alles verteidigt und sie wird immer das Wichtigste auf der ganzen Welt für mich sein.
Sie liebt mich, egal was ich tue, egal was mir passiert, sie ist immer für mich da.
Und wenn die Kinder, die ihre Mama nicht so oft um sich herum haben wollen, darüber nachdenken, wie sehr ihre Mama sie lieb hat, was sie alles tut und was das bedeutet, dann verstehen sie vielleicht, warum meine Mama für mich das Wichtigste auf der Welt ist.
Ohne Schnabel
Manchen von euch mag es aufgefallen sein… Im letzten Beitrag war ein Bild von der Eule. Da hatte sie offenbar gar keinen Schnabel. Könnt ihr da oben sehen. Ich hab das Eulchen gestern Abend gefragt, warum es mir ein solches Bild gegeben hat. Da hat es ganz doll lachen müssen. Und jetzt weiß ich auch, warum. Mit dem Schnabel war alles in Ordnung. Nur haben Wind und die Aufregung dafür gesorgt, dass sich die Federn in ihrem Gesicht aufgeplustert haben. Sie haben den Schnabel überdeckt. Da war er noch. Zum Glück. Denn die kleine weiße Eule hat doch so einen wunderhübschen Schnabel.
Der ist Schuld
Der da oben, der ist Schuld an dem Schlamassel.
Unser neuer Verlagshund benimmt sich wie jeder anständige Praktikant. Er kostet mehr Arbeitsaufwand als er Zeitersparnis reinbringt. Er weigert sich, Kaffee zu kochen und …
Er ist einfach nur niedlich und man kann ihm nicht böse sein.
Warum auch. Der Janosch ist ein kleiner patenter Kerl. Okay, er ist zwar klein an Alter, gerade mal ein gutes Jahr alt, aber er bringt schon seine 45 Kilo auf die Waage. Also haben wir jetzt schon wieder einen großen Hund, der aber im Kopf noch klitzeklein ist. Um ihn da auch noch wachsen zu lassen, geht hier ein großer Teil der Kernarbeitszeit drauf. Also kaum noch Socialmedia und co. Aber das wird, da bin ich mir sicher. Notfalls werden zur Pausenunterhaltung halt Fotos vom Welpenkuscheln gepostet, da hab ich Hunderte.
Und professionell wird es hier übrigens auch bald wieder zugehen. Bestimmt.
Sommerzeit, Eulenzeit
Die kleine weiße Eule erzählt mir nicht nur in Büchern von ihrem Leben. Das ist aber etwas ganz neues, früher hatte sie nur dafür Zeit. Jetzt kommt sie aber öfter zu mir geflogen und erzählt mir die Sachen, die für sie wichtig sind. Und deshalb werde ich jetzt hier all das aufschreiben, was sie mir so außer der Reihe alles erzählt. Damit geht es sehr bald los und ab dann gibt es einmal in der Woche Eulen-News.

Put on the computer what the public asks for, not everything about the US.
I asked for a total medal count. I have been looking for 20 minutes and still cannot find it.
I also asked for a specific medal count for a specific country and got a history of when they first started to compete in the Olympics. I asked for a medal count for 2018, as of today,
not a history of that country.
