MENTALITET

Mops er en hengiven, charmerende og ligevægtig hund, der er velegnet som selskabshund under alle forhold og i ethvert familiemønster. Den er glad for at lege og robust nok til at klare familiens børn med sindsro og overbærenhed. En mops er omgængelig over for fremmede mennesker og hunde. Meget lidt gøende, men den snorker.

En mops behøver en hel del motion for ikke at blive overvægtig. Desuden skal den have afløb for sin aktivitet gennem mentalt stimulerende beskæftigelse. Og så skal den have masser af kontakt.

AKTIVITETSNIVEAU OG HANDLERADIUS

Det ene øjeblik kan den ligge roligt og blunde i sofahjørnet. Det næste er mopsen i fuld fart rundt i huset og vildt optaget af sit legetøj. Den kan være drillesyg og vælger selv, hvilke anvisninger den vil følge, men den holder altid tæt kontakt.

PELS OG PLEJE

Pelsen er kort, blød og glansfuld med en tæt underuld. Den fælder en del og skal helst børstes igennem dagligt. Øjnene og folderne i hovedet bør holdes omhyggeligt rene, og den er tilbøjelig til at danne tandsten, som bør fjernes jævnligt. Racen tåler dårligt stærk varme.

TIPS OG TRICKS TIL INDLÆRING OG HÅNDTERING

En mops er generelt positiv over for indlæring og sætter pris på selskabet og opmærksomheden, som følger med. Men den er også utrolig opfindsom og meget beslutsom, så vær konsekvent, venlig og motiverende. Brug helst en kropssele.

OPRINDELSE

Mere end 2000 år gamle kinesiske skrifter omtaler små, kortnæsede og korthårede hunde, som formentlig er forfædre til nutidens mops. Racen fandt vej til Europa i slutningen af 1600-tallet med hollandske søfarere. Den var i skiftende perioder hofhund i både Holland og England og en elsket selskabshund hos overklassen såvel som hos det jævne borgerskab. Racenavnet kommer fra hollandsk og hentyder til det bekymrede ansigtsudtryk. På engelsk hedder den "pug", som kan betyde knytnæve.

Mops hund

Hundehalter, die sehr agile und fordernde Hunde haben, wissen sehr gut, dass ein wichtiger Baustein für einen ausgeglichenen Hund Auslastung und Beschäftigung ist. Ein Hund, der nicht gefordert wird und vor Langeweile umkommt, sucht sich selber Beschäftigung. Und dies ist dann meist die Grundlage für ungewollte Verhaltensweisen und unorthodoxes Verhalten.

Auch wenn der Mops ein körperlich nicht sehr fordernder Hund ist, so ist es auch für Ihn wichtig, dass er richtig und sinnvoll beschäftigt wird. Vor allem für Mopswelpen sind verschiedene Eindrücke und Reize sehr wichtig und prägend. Darüber hinaus sind Hunden tendenziell besser geschützt gegen Krankheiten, wenn sie körperlich fit sind. Sie schlagen also sogar 2 Fliegen mit einer Klappe.

Wie kann ich meinen Mops sinnvoll beschäftigen

Je nach Alter, körperlichen und geistigen Vorraussetzungen sowie Talent für bestimmte Dinge, können die Gewichtungen dieser Beschäftigungsmöglichkeiten von Tier zu Tier variieren und bei Bedarf angepasst werden. Tipp: Es gilt, dass einseitige Beschäftigung immer noch besser ist als gar keine Beschäftigung, die so gut wie immer zu unerwünschtem Verhalten beim Hund führt.

Hierunter zählen alle Hundespiele, die darauf abzielen einen beliebigen Gegenstand wie einen Ball, ein Stofftier oder ähnliches zum Halter zurückzubringen.

1. Intelligenzspiele

   Hier gibt es viele fertige Spiele zu kaufen wie beispielsweise Bauklötze, unter die man ein Leckerli legt. Der Mops muss dann jeweils den Bauklotz umschmeißen, unter dem das Leckerli liegt.

1. Erlernen von Grundkommandos

   Dies sollte im frühen Welpenalter begonnen werden. Grundkommandos wie sitz, bleib und komm können spielerisch und mit Hilfe von kleinen Belohnungen wie Wurst oder ähnlichem schnell geübt werden.

1. Erlernen von Tricks

   Für fortgeschrittene Beschäftigung eignen sich diverse Tricks wie Pfötchen geben, toter Hund oder Ähnliches. Das Erlernen ist für einen Hund richtig harte Arbeit und fordert ihn sehr. Eine Trainingseinheit sollte nicht länger als 15 Minuten dauern.

1. Suchspiele

   Sehr einfach und effektiv sind Suchspiele verschiedenster Art. Selbst in kleinen Wohnungen kann das problemlos durchgeführt werden. Lassen Sie Ihren Kleinen auf dem Platz sitzen, beispielsweise an einem verschlossenen und mit Leckerlis gefülltem Etui schnüffeln und verstecken Sie es dann. Auf Kommando muss er dann das Etui finden. Gerade Suchspiele sind effektiv und sehr anstrengend. Sie fördern den Geruchssinn und die Intelligenz des Hundes.

1. Klickertraining

   Der Klicker ist ein Hilfsmittel zur Konditionierung erwünschter Verhaltensweisen des Mopses. Der Schwierigkeitsgrad kann beliebig erhöht oder verringert werden.

1. Zerren und Rangeln

   Eine gute körperliche Ertüchtigung ohne gleich rauszumüssen sind Zerrspiele. Mit einem Tau oder ähnlichem können Sie Ihren Hund animieren mit ihnen zu rangeln und um das Tau zu wetteifern.

1. Hindernislauf und Agility

   Hindernislauf und die weitergehende Form davon Agility, ist nicht für Jeden das Richtige. Es ist aber sowohl geistig als auch körperlich fordernd, anspruchsvoll und lastet jeden Hund garantiert aus. Zusätzliche Beschäftigungen sind selten nötig, da alle Sinne benötigt werden. Durch bestimmte Parcourts muss man mit dem Mops laufen. Hierbei können Hindernisse übersprungen werden, Tunnel durchkrabbelt werden und Treppen erklommen werden. Sport für Hund und Halter.

1. Kauknochen

   Ein ausdauernder Kauknochen ist ebenfalls eine gute Beschäftigung für einen Mops. Hieran kann er sich gut abarbeiten, seine Zähne schärfen und Stress abbauen. Zusätzlich sollten aber auch immer geistige Akzente gesetzt werden.

1. Kong

   Ein Kong ist auch eine gute Möglichkeit, sowohl für geistige als auch für körperliche Beschäftigung zu sorgen, indem man ihn mit Leberwurst füllt. Die kleinen Öffnungen erschweren es sofort an die leckere Wurst zu gelangen und so muss der Mops richtig arbeiten und überlegen, wie er am besten dran kommt. Ein Gedulds- und Intelligenzspiel.

Beschäftigen und Motivieren – Wie halte ich den Mops bei der Stange?

Hier ein paar Tipps aus der Praxis, wie Sie die Motivation hochhalten können:

1. Gehen Sie es langsam aber bestimmt an, ohne den Mops zu überfordern. Leichtere Aufgaben sind besser als zu schwere. Dies führt oft zu Überforderung und letztendlich zu Desinteresse. Erst wenn eine Aufgabe richtig sitzt, kann langsam der Schwierigkeitsgrad nach Bedarf erhöht werden.
2. Setzen sie regelmäßig Erfolgserlebnisse und belohnen sie den Mops lieber öfter als zu wenig.
3. Bei Welpen eignen sich kurze Beschäftigungseinheiten von bis zu 5 Minuten, bei erwachsenen Möpsen bis zu 20 Minuten. Danach lässt die Konzentration einfach zu stark nach.
4. Behalten Sie immer eine positive Grundhaltung ein und zwingen Sie den Mops zu nichts. Es soll stets Spaß und Freude machen. Geht es dem kleinen Moppel einmal nicht so gut, verzichten Sie auf diese Art von Beschäftigung.
5. Finden Sie das Lieblingsspiel Ihres Mops Hundes. Jeder Hund mag irgendetwas besonders gern.
6. Behalten Sie stets die Oberhand. Egal wie süß und drollig der Mops gerade guckt: Sie sind der Chef und Sie bestimmen wann mit der Beschäftigung begonnen und wann beendet wird. Hierfür muss man auch schonmal Spielverderber sein und nach einem erfreulichen Erfolgserlebnis das Spielzeug entfernen und damit zeigen: Jetzt ist Schluss. Idealerweise geschieht dies bevor Müdigkeit und Desinteresse einkehrt. Man bekommt irgendwann ein Gefühl dafür nach welcher Zeit Ihr Kleiner unaufmerksam wird.

Here at MOPS, we gather moms. We believe in the simple but revolutionary idea that remarkable things happen when moms come together. That’s why we rally women, in their own neighborhoods, to help them become more brave, kind and honest, one gathering at a time.

So, whether you are a soon-to-be mom, first-time mom or seventh-time mom, you are welcome here. Employment Benefits

For employees who work 30 hours per week or more, MOPS offers medical, dental and vision insurance for you and your dependents, along with a FSA (flexible spending account). MOPS covers the cost of short-term disability insurance for all employees who work 24 hours per week or more, and has a generous retirement plan for all employees who work 20 hours per week or more. We are a family friendly organization who strongly encourages a work/life balance and generously offers every employee three weeks of PTO (paid time off), in addition to 12 holidays throughout the year. We encourage your faith journey by praying together as a staff weekly, and offer one paid Spiritual Retreat Day a year.

Sherri Crandall, Director of Global Ministries

Sherri Crandall is the Director of Global Ministries. Prior to being on staff with MOPS, she was the Director of Women’s Ministry at Mission Hills Church in Denver, Colorado for 10 years. She has also been a MOPS volunteer for the past 23 years.

Sherri is also a blogger and speaker for women’s events across the country and internationally, encouraging women to live life to the fullest. She loves to garden, read historical fiction, play tennis and most of all hang out with her family and friends, especially in the Rocky Mountains.

Sherri lives in Highlands Ranch, Colorado with her husband, Rusty, their four kids and two dogs.

Deidre Hamilton, Director of Development

Deidre Hamilton is the Director of Development and is passionate about stewarding donor generosity to enrich and empower moms around the world. She has worked in nonprofit programming and development over the past 10 years and holds a master’s degree from the University of Denver in Philanthropic Leadership and Nonprofit Management and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Montana.

Outside of work, Deidre’s perfect day involves running on a trail, drinking a latte with her husband, and playing hide-and-seek with her son.

Put on the computer what the public asks for, not everything about the US.

I asked for a total medal count. I have been looking for 20 minutes and still cannot find it.

I also asked for a specific medal count for a specific country and got a history of when they first started to compete in the Olympics. I asked for a medal count for 2018, as of today,

not a history of that country.

Mops hund

Mopsen er en lille hunderace med et rynket fladt ansigt. Det engelske navn for hunderacen ”Pug” stammer fra det gamle engelske ord ”pugg” eller ”puge”, der er et kærligt øgenavn for en legesyg lille djævel eller abekat.

En Mops er ca. 28 cm til skuldrene og vejer ca. 6,5 – 9,5 kg. Hunderacen beskrives ofte som det mere i det mindre (multum in parvo), som hentyder til Mopsens kendetegnende og store personlighed på trods af hundens lille størrelse.

Mopsen har en fin, glansfuld og kort pels, der kan være lysebrun, aprikos, sølv eller sort. Halen krøller normalt indover ryggen. Mopser med forskellig pelstype fælder i varierende grad, men generelt fælder den lidt hele året. Lysebrune mopser fælder efter sigende mest. Jævnlig børstning hjælper med at mindske fældningen på uhensigtsmæssige steder.

Det seriøse ansigtsudtryk en Mops lægger for dagen er misvisende for det legesyge temperament, som kendetegner den lille hunderace. Mopser er sociale, legesyge, intelligente og charmerende men kan også være stædige små hunde.

En mopskommer for det meste godt ud af det med andre kæledyr og mennesker, men foretrækker sin ejers selskab. Racen kan godt lide af separationsangst, hvis de ikke lærer at stå på egne ben.

Generelt er den en lille nysgerrig hund, der elsker opmærksomhed og kræver meget kontakt med sin ejere og gerne følger sin ejer fra rum til rum og sidder i sin ejers skød eller ligger ved fødderne.

Mopsens historie som hunderace

Modsat mange andre selskabshunde har Mopsen ikke en længere fortid som arbejdshund, den blev avlet som selskabshund næsten helt fra starten. De første Mopser blev avlet i Kina, hvor de var vellidte i det kinesiske hof og adelsstanden. Hunderacens popularitet spredtes til Tibet, hvor de holdtes af munke og senere spredtes hunderacen videre til Europa.

Racenblev importeret af handelsrejsende i slutningen af 1600-tallet bl.a. på skibe fra det hollandske East Indies Trading Company. Herfra spredtes racen til hoffet i England og mange andre lande. Mopsen ses afbilledet i malerier af Goya i Italien.

Mopsen er måske rigtig for dig, hvis du gerne vil have en hund der er:

• Lille men robust af bygning og har en kort blød pels.
• Har et nuttet rundt og rynket hoved, kort ansigt og store runde øjne.
• En socialt anlagt hund, der er både rolig, stolt, legesyg og livlig på samme tid.
• En hund der godt kan bruge det meste af dagen på at slappe af eller snorke og derfor har et meget lille motionsbehov.

Nogle af Mopsens egenskaber er måske ikke rigtige for dig, alt efter hvad du leder efter:

• den kan godt være stædig.
• den fælder en hel del.
• racen kan få helbredsproblemer grundet dens særprægede udseende og bygning og laver ofte nogle små ”Mops”-lyde som snorken, hiven efter vejret etc.
• racenkan tage forholdsvist lang tid at gøre stueren og kan have en del gas i maven.
• det er en race som du ikke lige kan tage med på en 5. km løbetur

MOPS (Mendacious Obsfucating Pedant Syndrome)

Patient constructs a false identity, often for artistic or religious

purposes. Over time, said identity "merges" with the original persona

to the extent they become inseparable in the patients' mind. This

pathology is masked by the patients' conviction that he must, at all

times, remain "in character" to achieve his intended effect. Patient

is thus aware of the fraud, yet unable to arrest the impulse.

This presents as concealment of the obvious in layers of unnecessary

complexity. In the malignant form, it manifests as vapid erudition in

search of an audience. If, and where such audience is found, depends

mainly on the pedantic aspect of the syndrome.

By invoking special knowledge, displaying credentials, or asserting

authority in a given area, the MOPS sufferer attempts to construct an

audience for his mendacious obsfucations. This audience may exist in

cult/guru form, as a stilted intellectual circle, or merely in the

patients' own mind. The relative coherence of the patients'

"message" will, to a degree, define his audience. In the delusional

form, however, this audience is almost always imaginary.

There is, at present, no cure for MOPS. Symptoms may be supressed

via electroshock therapy in an out-patient setting, however, remission

is temporary and the disease manifests again in fairly short order.

In severe cases, institutionalization and/or lobotomy are indicated.

applies to all of us, though I think the point our previous poster made

refers to those who don't yet realize they're in charge of the fraud. The
