Border Collie / Poodle Mixed Breed Dogs

Information and Pictures

Kaiser the black and white Bordoodle (Border Collie / Standard Poodle mix breed) at 3 years old—"This is my Border Collie x Standard Poodle dog named Kaiser. He has a fairly tolerant nature. He is very good with children of over four or so years, but he can be a bit nervous of younger, rough children! He has funny quirks like having his "crazy moments" when he runs around the house / garden for a few minutes like crazy barking and growling (playfully, not aggressively). He likes other dogs and is very playful with them. He is always wanting to meet new dogs and run around with them for as long as possible. He has a tendency to scare other dogs as if he sees them from a distance he sort of stalks them and lies down and slowly shuffles forward and then a few meters away he madly runs up to them, which can alarm some dogs."

Other Names
  • Border Poodle
  • Borpoo
  • Borderpoo
  • Borderdoodle
Description

The Bordoodle is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Border Collie and the Poodle. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses.

Kaiser the black and white Bordoodle (Border Collie / Standard Poodle mix breed) at 3 years old—"Kaiser loves long walks, the longer the better. He can come back from a walk, lie down for five minutes and then be ready for another! His dislikes would be water, if a ball is thrown in then he will go in for a swim to fetch it, but he definitely wouldn't go in out of choice. Another one of his dislikes would be vacuum cleaners and ironing boards. He has been scared of these since we got him and nothing seems to get him to calm down around them. His final dislike is the car/traveling. He whines and if he's in the car for more than ten minutes he is sick several times. His bad habits would be that he isn't always very good at coming back. He tends to have a "can't be bothered" attitude if we call him to go back on the lead and walks over very slowly, he does always come back though, just sometimes it takes a long time. Another bad habit is that he picks up bad habits very quickly. He once barked at a lorry and my sister laughed about it and now every time we walk past something big such as a lorry or tractor he thinks it's appropriate to bark at it."

"Kaiser's good habits would be that he is very clever and learns new tricks very quickly. He is very out going and is fairly tolerant of smaller animals such as guinea pigs etc, but not cats! He needs at least one long walk a day otherwise he gets sad and goes a bit crazy indoors all day. A long walk being of at least an hour. You would also think being that he is half Poodle that he wouldn't moult. This however is not true and we need to vacuum every day despite being told that he "wouldn't moult". But we don't mind anyway. He is about the same height of an average Labrador and weighs about 50 pounds(22 kg.). He has the brain of a Border Collie and definitely the ability. He is very fast, faster than any dog I've known and can keep up with someone doing at least 25mph on a bike."

"This is Woody. His mum is a working Border Collie and his dad is a Standard Poodle. Woody is 10 weeks old in this picture and we have only had him for 4 days, yet in this short time he has shown a high level of intelligence, he can sit on command, give paw, has learnt "no" and has shown no real interest in our cat, Naldo, although Naldo has shown lots of interest in Woody! He has a very lovely, sweet nature and is excellent with our 10-year-old son Jack. He likes to play with his football and will nearly bring you back the ball on command. He loves sitting on your knee for cuddles and then falls fast asleep."

"Izzy was the runt from a Border Collie breeder’s first cross litter. Her mother is a blue merle Border Collie and her father a white Standard Poodle".

"We chose Izzy because of her timidity. We live in an apartment and own an art gallery. We wanted a dog that wasn’t too hyper and that would be polite to humans. For the first 6 weeks she would not walk out our front door on her own (we live on a main intersection in the city). Once she got to know the neighborhood her confidence soared. She LOVES other dogs and always wants to play. She is very gentle with small dogs but has a little trouble with big aggressive ones (bullies). Izzy is now 8 months and 45 pounds tall and thin. She doesn't shed yet (fingers crossed) and a relative with allergies has had no problems being around her."

5 Designer Doodle Dog Breeds

When you look past the Poodle's froufrou show coat, you'll see an easy-to-train brainiac with a sense of humor who gets along with kids and other pets. So what happens when you cross this versatile breed with another equally family-friendly and smart breed? You get a doodle dog!

But before you rush out to your nearest breeder to get a designer dog, do your homework and get to know the different kinds of doodles. Also understand that these hybrids are a bit of a wild card, genetically. If you breed a Poodle with a Poodle, you are likely to get a certain set of characteristics. With designer dogs, you never really quite know what personality traits or physical characteristics will surface in the dog you get. But one thing we can tell from these photos — they sure are cute!

Doodle Dogs Bring Oodles of Joy

Vidar Skauen, Animal Photography

Labradoodle

When you mix America's most popular dog the Lab with the Poodle you get a pup who is potentially sociable, friendly and extremely intuitive. The breed comes is three sizes: miniature (weighing 15 to 30 pounds), medium (30 to 45 pounds) and standard (45 to more than 100 pounds). But remember, crossbreed traits are not fixed, so there's no telling how much your puppy will end up weighing.

Aussiedoodle

Aussiedoodles are believed by some to be the doggie Einsteins of the canine world. Both Australian Shepherds and Poodles are extremely intelligent, which means that if the Aussiedoodle inherits those traits, its big brain can get easily bored. If he isn't busy doing a job of some sort, he will find a way to occupy his mind — even if it means destroying your living room in the process. Give this doodle plenty of socialization and training from a young age and he'll turn into a wonderful companion.

Robin Burkett, Animal Photography

Yes, this Schnauzer and Poodle crossbreed is more of an oodle than a doodle, but we won't let one missing letter exclude this adorable option. Schnoodles have the potential to combine the intelligence, boldness and friendliness of both breeds. This double dose of attentiveness could make him a great watchdog too.

Anita Peeples, Animal Photography

Goldendoodle

This dog is adorable. Often friendly and outgoing like a Golden Retriever and smart like a Poodle, the Goldendoodle can be a great family pet and can even be trained to be a fantastic guide dog. As with all designer breeds, however, Goldendoodles are often falsly marketed as hypoallergenic because of their curly coat. While there is a chance that those with allergies will be able to tolerate a curly-coated breed more easily than one with a flat coat, the hypoallergenic claim has never been scientifically proven. In fact, allergies are not caused by a specific coat type, but rather by the dander shed from the dog's fur.

Sherry Rupke from Swissridge Kennels

Bernedoodle

Created in 2004 by Sherry Rupke of Swissridge Kennels, the Bernedoodle is a cross between the Bernese Mountain Dog and the Poodle. Rupke says the Bernedoodle is fun, sociable and a great family dog, but stresses that Bernedoodles need to be trained and socialized from an early age. The Bernedoodle is just as happy playing fetch and jogging with you as he is curling up on the couch and snuggling.

How to Doodle

Doodling is not only a great way to pass the time during a boring class, but it can help you improve your artistic skills and find your passion. As long as you relax and let your hand do the thinking, you'll be on your way to having original, funny, or even gorgeous doodles. If you want to know how to doodle, just follow these steps.

Community Q&A

  • Maybe you can try to relax more. Don't try to think about what to doodle too much, or else it would be kind of hard and frustrating. Try llistening to music while you doodle.
  • That's entirely up to you. If you enjoy doodling and find yourself doing it often, you might find it helpful to have an easily carried doodle journal and pencil/pen to take with you wherever you go and use on-the-go. Or, you might just prefer finding scrap paper here and there when the mood takes you. Since journals don't cost a lot and you'll often have spare items around the house, the journal might be a good thing to at least experiment with.
  • It really doesn't matter what you doodle on. It can be easier to see your doodles on blank paper (because they overlap) but just experiment and find what works best for you.
  • Just let your imagination go wild. Then use your doodle " mistakes " to improve your drawing. Try to make something new out of them.
  • It's all in the eye of the beholder. If you don't like your art, keep practicing until it becomes as good as you want it to be.
  • It's up to you. Doodles need not be the slightest bit meaningful. It can be simply pretty or maybe showing some occasion, festival, mood, etc. Really, it comes down to how you feel about the doodle as you create it -- if you're in the mood for meaningful, then make it so; if not, then just doodle randomly.
  • No, you can use whatever you like! If you want to be able to erase mistakes, use a pencil. But doodling with pens is more common. It looks a little more intense than pencil, and it's supposed to just be free and spontaneous, so 'mistakes' don't really matter.
  • As with all things doodling, that's entirely up to you. If you like sharing artwork, then by all means show others. If you want them to appreciate it, be aware that some people might think it's not that interesting though -- reactions are very personal. If you'd rather keep your doodles to yourself, that's cool too. Another option is to just leave them lying about, to add to the joy of people's day when they come across one.
  • It may easiest to write it normally (with lines), and then trace around it. Then you erase the inside lines, and it's bubble/block letters!
  • There is a variety of painting and drawing programs available for Macs, PCs and tablets and smart phones. The advantage the mobile devices have is that they have a built-in input device with the touch screen but the resolution is not ideal in some cases. For any type of computer, an input graphics tablet will greatly facilitate doodling as you would on pen and paper.

Goldendoodle

Helsetilstand hos goldendoodle: Dessverre kan noen fе helseproblemer.

AMERICAN LABRADOODLE

ABOUT OUR LABRADOODLES/ OM VГ…RA LABRADOODLE HUNDAR

American Labradoodle vs Australian Labradoodle (Cobberdog), what is the difference?

We breed American/ Origin Labradoodle that is a selected breeding of pure Poodle and Labrador in the pedigree, in other words the origin Labradoodle. We specialize in mini and medium but we have also standard.

The Australian Labradoodle (Cobberdog) are made out of many breeds like Labrador, Poodle, English Cockerspaniel, American Cockerspaniel, Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, Curly Coated Retriever and Irish Waterspaniel. ItВґs still not proven which more breeds that is included more in this breed.

American Labradoodle (Origin Labradoodle)

From the beginning is this crossbreed an attempt to get a great guidedog for allergy sufferers.

American Labradoodle is a fantastic both working- and familydog. Labradoodles are now widely used around the world as guide, assistance, and therapy dogs as well as being popular family dogs.

They are extreme intelligent dogs and so easy to train!

They do not shed as the Labrador Retreiver and are friendly for allergy sufferers. (Then of course it depends what the person is allergic to, it depends on several allergy genes. The best way is to come and visit us and our dogs to find out if the person is allergic to these dogs or not.)

We have all three sizes;

  • Miniatyr- height 35-43 cm, weight 7-14 kg
  • Medium- height 43-50 cm, weight 14-18 kg
  • Standard- height 50-61 cm, weight 18-30 kg

The American Labradoodle can have three different types of hair and it can have many colours.

There is some difference in the bloodlines depended on which type of Labradoodle, Labrador and Poodle is in the pedigree. The same as in every other pure bred dog.

ThatВґs why we offer us to help you finding the best puppy for your family, depending if the new familymember will be as a pet, familydog, guidedog, therapydog or will do other workingtrials. We want our puppies to get the best home for their and their new families needs.

We breed only from good, healthy bloodlines and the parents are healthchecked and extremely well socialized dogs.

We also have our own dogschool (since 2001) where we can provide you with help to train your dog and help you to get the best start with your new familymember.

American Labradoodle kontra Australian Labradoodle (Cobberdog), vad Г¤r skillnaden?

Amerikansk Labradoodle (Original Labradoodle)

Vi har alla tre storlekarna vilket innebär;

  • Miniatyr- hГ¶jd 35-43 cm, vikt 7-14 kg
  • Medium- hГ¶jd 43-50 cm, vikt 14-18 kg
  • Standard- hГ¶jd 50-61 cm, vikt 18-30 kg
