FLURALANER - was man über den Wirkstoff wissen sollte

Seit etwa einem Jahr ist mit Bravecto ein Präparat gegen Zecken auf dem Markt, welches nicht äußerlich angewendet, sondern verabreicht wird und anstatt vier bis sechs Wochen ganze drei Monate Schutz bieten soll. Der enthaltene Wirkstoff ist Fluralaner, eine für Insekten tödliche Substanz. Was hat es mit diesem Wirkstoff auf sich und ist er für Hunde unbedenklich oder nicht. Diese Fragen stellt man sich als Hundehalter natürlich, denn neben dem Schutz vor Zecken und den von ihnen übertragenen Krankheiten ist einem auch an der Gesundheit des Hundes gelegen.

Ich habe mich auf die Suche begeben und auf parasitipedia.net recht gute Informationen gefunden. Diese Webseite richtet sich an Tierhalter in der Landwirtschaft, an Tierärzte und Halter von Hunden und Katzen mit dem Ziel, über Parasiten und Möglichkeiten der Bekämpfung aufzuklären. Der Autor hat einen Hintergrund in der Forschung zum Thema Tiergesundheit.

Wie wirkt Fluralaner?

Fluralaner setzt sich bei Insekten an die sogenannten GABA Rezeptoren und hemmt damit antagonistisch die Chlorid Kanäle in Nerven- und Muskelzellen. Das heißt, es werden keine neuronalen Signale übertragen. Das führt zu spastischen Lähmungen und die Insekten sterben. Den beschriebenen Funktionsmechanismus gibt es nicht nur in Insekten, sondern auch bei Säugetieren und anderen Wirbeltieren, allerdings mit dem Unterschied, dass die Neigung von Fluralaner, an den GABA Rezeptoren anzudocken, bei Insekten um ein Vielfaches höher ist als bei Wirbeltieren. Dadurch ist es für die letzteren deutlich weniger toxisch als für Insekten.

Zur Toxizität und Verträglichkeit von Fluralaner

In Tierversuchen an Ratten lag die Rate, bei der 50% der Versuchstiere starben (LD50) bei größer 2000 mg Wirkstoff pro Kilogramm Körpergewicht und das bei oraler wie äußerer Verabreichung. Bei Ratten zeigte sich in den Studiengruppen mit der größten Überdosis bei wiederholten Versuchen vor allem eine Zunahme des Lebergewichtes und der verbundenen Blutwerte. Diese Dosis lag weit über der für Hunde empfohlenen Dosis. Bei einer Dosis von 400 mg/kg bw/day (Körpergewicht/Tag) wurden Auswirkungen auf das Gewicht der Schilddrüse, der Nebennieren beobachtet, sowie mikroskopische Veränderungen in der Lunge und der Schilddrüse.

In einer Studie mit Beagle Welpen wurde Fluralaner in der einfachen, dreifachen und fünffachen maximal empfohlenen Dosis von 25 bis

60 mg/kg (auf das Körpergewicht gerechnet) dreimal verabreicht mit einer Pause von jeweils von 56 Tagen und wurde von den Hunden gut vertragen.

In einer Reproduktionsstudie wurden Beagle Versuchshunden bis zum dreifachen der empfohlenen Dosis vor dem Deckakt verabreicht, dreimal mit 8 Wochen Pause, bei den Rüden 12 Wochen vor dem Deckakt und bei den Hündinnen 4 Wochen. Die Behandlung wurde fortgesetzt bis die Hündinnen geworfen hatten (männliche Welpen) oder die Welpen entwöhnt waren (weibliche Welpen). Es konnten bei den erwachsenen Hunden keine Beeinträchtigungen festgestellt werden und auch keine schädlichen Wirkungen auf die Fortpflanzungsfunktion, die Anzahl der Welpen oder die Welpensterblichkeit.

Daten, die zur Produktsicherheit in Felduntersuchungen in Europa und den USA gesammelt wurden, zeigten eine allgemein gute Toleranz von Fluralaner. Die europäischen Studien konnten leichte Nebenwirkungen bei 1,6% der Untersuchten Hunde an den ersten Tagen nach der Behandlung dokumentieren, schwacher vorübergehender Durchfall, Erbrechen, Appetitlosigkeit und Speichelfluss.

Nebenwirkungen, Beeintächtigungen und toxische Wirkungen von Fluralaner

Am ehesten zu erwarten sind an nachteiligen Wirkungen:

Bei der Verabreichung werden am ehesten Fehler bei der Dosierung gemacht, wenn sehr kleinen Hunden mit Kautabletten für größere Hunde eine Überdosis verabreicht wird.

Im Allgemeinen kann man davon ausgehen, dass Hunde Fluralaner sehr gut vertragen, wenn es in der Anwendungsdoses von 25 to

57 mg/kg verabreicht wird, abgesehen von den wenigen Fällen, wo es wie oben beschrieben zu nachteiligen Wirkungen kommen kann.

Es gibt keine Gegenmittel gegen die toxische Wirkung von Fluralaner. Hat ein Hund davon unkontrolliert zu sich genommen, wird die Verabreichung von Aktivkohle und einem Abführmittel angeraten.

Bewegung von Fluralaner durch den Körper

• Wird Fluralaner oral verabreicht, wird es schnell ins Blut absorbiert und nach 24 Stunden ist die maximale Konzentration dort erreicht. Im Blut beträgt die Halbwertszeit 12 - 15 Tage. Das bedeutet, nach dieser Zeit ist nur noch die halbe Konzentration nachzuweisen.

Bisher sind hierzu keine Studien veröffentlicht worden, da man nicht davon ausgeht, dass Fluralaner über die Ausscheidung durch Hunde zu einem Umweltrisiko werden könnte. Bekannt ist aber, dass es durch seine Wirkungsweise auf Insekten an Land und im Wasser, wenn diese damit in Kontakt kommen, tödlich wirkt.

Ich habe jetzt im Prinzip recht eng an der Vorlage bleibend die wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnisse zur Sicherheit der Verwendung von Fluralaner bei Hunden (Wirkungsweise, Toxizität und Verträglichkeit sowie den Nebenwirkungen) wiedergegeben.

Bravecto wird für Hunde von 4,5 - 10 kg Körpergewicht in einer 250 mg Dosierung verabreicht. Das entspräche bei einem Hund mit 10 kg Körpergewicht einer Dosis von 25 mg/kg und bei einem Hund mit 4,5 kg Körpergewicht einer Dosis von 55 mg/kg. Die als sicher und wirksam empfohlene Dosis beträgt 25 bis

Nach der Beschreibung oben scheint Fluralaner unbedenklich für die Gesundheit der Hunde, da es wenn überhaupt nur extrem gering toxisch wirken kann und überwiegend ausgeschieden wird. Nur sehr wenige Hunde (1,6%) leiden in den ersten Tagen nach der Verabreichung unter Nebenwirkungen. Die mögen vielleicht etwas unangenehm sein, sind aber nicht gefährlich.

Schützt Fluralaner vor Borreliose und anderen durch Zecken übertragenen Krankheiten?

Es gibt natürlich noch einen weiteren Punkt bei Fluralaner zu beachten, was die Effektivität angeht. Anders als extern angewendete Mittel, wie etwa Expot, welches seinen Wirkstoff über ein Öl auf der Haut verteilt, der Zecken dann bei Kontakt tötet, muss sich eine Zecke erst festbeißen und den im Gewebe und im Blut enthaltenen Wirkstoff über ihre Mundwerkzeuge aufnehmen. Es dauert dann noch eine Weile, bevor das Fluralaner in der Zecke seine toxische Wirkung entfaltet. Auf dem Beipackzettel zu Bravecto geht man davon aus, dass eine Wirkung innerhalb von 12 Stunden eintritt. Das ist sehr viel Zeit und sie dürfte von der Konzentration des Wirkstoffs im Blut und Gewebe abhängen. Die Frage ist, ob in dieser Zeit durch die Zecke noch Krankheitserreger wie Borrelien übertragen werden können. Wie bekannt ist, werden die Borrelien erst nach einigen Stunden nach Festbeißen übertragen. Doch wird die Zecke durch das Fluralaner vorher bereits getötet oder zumindest soweit gelähmt, dass die Borrelien nicht mehr übertragen werden können?

Dazu habe ich eine Zusammenfassung einer deutschen Studie (Christina Wengenmayer) vom Juli 2014 gefunden. An der Studie beteiligt waren der Hersteller MSD und die Universität Gießen. Man hatte in der Studie untersucht, wie schnell Fluralaner die Zecken tötet.

Insgesamt 48 Hunde in acht Zufallsgruppen zu sechs Hunden wurden mit je 50 weiblichen und 10 männlichen Zecken je Hund besetzt. Nach zwei Tagen erhielten vier Gruppen eine einzelne Dosis von 25 mg/kg Fluralaner (in Form einer Bravecto Kautablette). Die anderen vier Gruppen wurden nicht behandelt. 4, 8, 12 und 24 Stunden nach Verabreichung des Wirkstoffs wurden an den behandelten Hunden wie auch den Hunden der Kontrollgruppen die Wirksamkeit in Bezug auf das Abtöten von Zecken überprüft. Nach 4, 8 und 12 Wochen wurden allen Hunden wieder Zecken aufgesetzt (50 weibliche) und dann jeweils wieder die Anzahl der toten und lebenden Zecken nach 4, 8, 12 und 24 Stunden ermittelt.

Vier Stunden nach Verabreichung des Wirkstoffes waren 89,6 % aller Zecken abgetötet, 97,9% nach 8 Stunden und 100% nach 12 bzw. 24 Stunden. Je länger die Verabreichung des Wirkstoffes zurück lag, desto stärker sank auch die Zahl der nach acht Stunden abgetöteten Zecken. Vier Wochen nach Verabreichung von Bravecto waren so nach acht Stunden bereits 96,8% aller Zecken tot, acht Wochen nach Verabreichung waren es noch 83,5% die nach acht Stunden abgetötet waren und zwölf Wochen nach der Verabreichung nur noch 45,8%. Über die gesamte zwölfwöchige Studienzeit konnte eine Abtötungsrate der Zecken von 98,1% nach 12 bzw. 24 Stunden nachgewiesen werden.

Die Autorin der Studie schließt daraus, dass der Wirkstoff Fluralaner eine schnell wirkenden Zecken-abtötende Wirkung hat, die lange anhält und nach spätestens 12 Stunden nahezu alle Zecken abgetötet hat und so eine Hilfe bei der Vermeidung von Zecken-verursachten Krankheiten sein kann (The rapid tick-killing effect together with the long duration of efficacy enables fluralaner to aid in the prevention of tick borne diseases.)

Was bedeutet das nun? Schützt Fluralaner vor einer Infektion mit Borrelien und ähnlichen Krankheitserregern? Die Ergebnisse sagen eigentlich ja und nein. Laut Wikipedia werden Borrelien “in der Regel 8 bis 24 Stunden nach dem Einstich” übertragen. Innerhalb von zwölf Wochen nach Verabreichung von Bravecto sind spätestens nach 12 Stunden nahezu alle Zecken abgetötet. Das ist sicher. Je dichter der Befall an der Verabreichung von Bravecto liegt, desto wahrscheinlicher ist es, dass die Zecke abgetötet wird, bevor die Borrelien übertragen sind. Doch je weiter der Zeckenbefall jedoch vom Zeitpunkt der Verabreichung entfernt ist, desto länger braucht es, bis in der Zecke eine ausreichende Konzentration des Wirkstoffes vorhanden ist, um sie abzutöten. Nach 12 Wochen, also nicht nicht lange bevor man Bravecto erneut verabreichen sollte, sind nach acht Stunden nicht einmal die Hälfte aller Zecken abgetötet. Die anderen sind dann erst nach vier weiteren Stunden tot.

Meine Bewertung: Bravecto bietet wohl schon einen recht guten Schutz vor der Übertragung von Krankheiten wie Borreliose durch Zecken, der aber mit der Zeit abnimmt. Da nicht jede Zecke ein Überträger ist, dürfte das Risiko so aber trotzdem deutlich verringert werden. Ein Restrisiko bleibt aber auf jeden Fall bestehen.

Mein Fazit: Bravecto mit dem Wirkstoff Fluralaner kann das Risiko einer durch Zecken übertragenen Krankheit wie Borreliose deutlich reduzieren. Durch die orale Aufnahme verteilt es sich im ganzen Köper und Zecken nehmen den Wirkstoff auf, egal, wo sie sich anheften. Bei großen Hunden funktioniert die Abdeckung des gesamten Körpers durch äußerlich angewendete Mittel vor allem bei längerem Fell laut meinem Tierarzt häufig nicht so zuverlässig. Fluralaner zeigt nur bei sehr wenigen Hunden in den ersten Tagen nach der Verabreichung leichte aber nicht gefährliche Nebenwirkungen. Es kann sogar bei trächtigen und säugenden Hündinnen eingesetzt werden, ohne Auswirkungen auf den Nachwuchs.

Meine Erfahrungen nach einem Jahr Einsatz bei 3 Hunden

Ich habe Bravecto 2015 erstmalig verabreicht und nun 2016 eine ganze Saison lang im Einsatz. Meine drei Hunde vertragen das Mittel gut. Sie hatten bisher keine Unverträglichkeitsreaktionen nach der Einnahme. Zecken, die sich trotz weiterer Schutzmaßnahmen auf die Hunde verirren, werden zuverlässig abgetötet.

Meine Empfehlung: Bravecto ist ein guter Schutz. Wer den Schutz noch optimieren will, kann außerdem ein für Zecken abstoßendes Mittel (Repellent) verwenden, um das Befallsrisiko zusätzlich zu minimieren. Hier gibt es natürliche Mittel, die den Körpergeruch des Hundes verändern, etwa Schwarzkümmel-Öl oder Kokos-Öl und ähnliche Präparate. Ich mache bei meinen kurzhaarigen Hunden sehr gute Erfahrungen mit Schwarzkümmel-Öl (und bekomme als positiven Nebeneffekt bei allen drei Hunden ein seidenweiches Fell).

Ausblick: Wie ich von meinem Tierarzt hörte, soll Bravecto 2017 mit neuen Produkten auf den Markt kommen. Zusätzlich zur Pille soll es dann eine Präparat geben, welches äußerlich angewendet wird. Darüber hinaus soll es auch ein Bravecto Präparat für Katzen geben. Außerdem soll es Mehrfachpackungen geben.

Das aufgenommene Fluralaner bindet sich zu ungefähr 100% an Blutproteine, scheint aber dort keinen anderen Medikamenten, die sich ebenfalls stark an Proteine binden, in die Quere zu kommen.
• Die Ausscheidung erfolgt überwiegend in Form der unveränderten Ursprungsmoleküle, vor allem über den Kot (etwa 90%). Die Nieren sind an der Ausscheidung so gut wie gar nicht beteiligt (0,01% im Urin).

Bisher sind hierzu keine Studien veröffentlicht worden, da man nicht davon ausgeht, dass Fluralaner über die Ausscheidung durch Hunde zu einem Umweltrisiko werden könnte. Je länger die Verabreichung des Wirkstoffes zurück lag, desto stärker sank auch die Zahl der nach acht Stunden abgetöteten Zecken. Vier Wochen nach Verabreichung von Bravecto waren so nach acht Stunden bereits 96,8% aller Zecken tot, acht Wochen nach Verabreichung waren es noch 83,5% die nach acht Stunden abgetötet waren und zwölf Wochen nach der Verabreichung nur noch 45,8%. Über die gesamte zwölfwöchige Studienzeit konnte eine Abtötungsrate der Zecken von 98,1% nach 12 bzw. 24 Stunden nachgewiesen werden.

Die Autorin der Studie schließt daraus, dass der Wirkstoff Fluralaner eine schnell wirkenden Zecken-abtötende Wirkung hat, die lange anhält und nach spätestens 12 Stunden nahezu alle Zecken abgetötet hat und so eine Hilfe bei der Vermeidung von Zecken-verursachten Krankheiten sein kann (The rapid tick-killing effect together with the long duration of efficacy enables fluralaner to aid in the prevention of tick borne diseases.)

Was bedeutet das nun? Schützt Fluralaner vor einer Infektion mit Borrelien und ähnlichen Krankheitserregern? Die Ergebnisse sagen eigentlich ja und nein. Laut Wikipedia werden Borrelien “in der Regel 8 bis 24 Stunden nach dem Einstich” übertragen. Innerhalb von zwölf Wochen nach Verabreichung von Bravecto sind spätestens nach 12 Stunden nahezu alle Zecken abgetötet. Das ist sicher. Je dichter der Befall an der Verabreichung von Bravecto liegt, desto wahrscheinlicher ist es, dass die Zecke abgetötet wird, bevor die Borrelien übertragen sind. Doch je weiter der Zeckenbefall jedoch vom Zeitpunkt der Verabreichung entfernt ist, desto länger braucht es, bis in der Zecke eine ausreichende Konzentration des Wirkstoffes vorhanden ist, um sie abzutöten. Nach 12 Wochen, also nicht nicht lange bevor man Bravecto erneut verabreichen sollte, sind nach acht Stunden nicht einmal die Hälfte aller Zecken abgetötet. Die anderen sind dann erst nach vier weiteren Stunden tot.

Meine Bewertung: Bravecto bietet wohl schon einen recht guten Schutz vor der Übertragung von Krankheiten wie Borreliose durch Zecken, der aber mit der Zeit abnimmt. Da nicht jede Zecke ein Überträger ist, dürfte das Risiko so aber trotzdem deutlich verringert werden. Ein Restrisiko bleibt aber auf jeden Fall bestehen.

Mein Fazit: Bravecto mit dem Wirkstoff Fluralaner kann das Risiko einer durch Zecken übertragenen Krankheit wie Borreliose deutlich reduzieren. Durch die orale Aufnahme verteilt es sich im ganzen Köper und Zecken nehmen den Wirkstoff auf, egal, wo sie sich anheften. Bei großen Hunden funktioniert die Abdeckung des gesamten Körpers durch äußerlich angewendete Mittel vor allem bei längerem Fell laut meinem Tierarzt häufig nicht so zuverlässig. Fluralaner zeigt nur bei sehr wenigen Hunden in den ersten Tagen nach der Verabreichung leichte aber nicht gefährliche Nebenwirkungen. Es kann sogar bei trächtigen und säugenden Hündinnen eingesetzt werden, ohne Auswirkungen auf den Nachwuchs.

Meine Erfahrungen nach einem Jahr Einsatz bei 3 Hunden

Ich habe Bravecto 2015 erstmalig verabreicht und nun 2016 eine ganze Saison lang im Einsatz. Meine drei Hunde vertragen das Mittel gut. Sie hatten bisher keine Unverträglichkeitsreaktionen nach der Einnahme. Zecken, die sich trotz weiterer Schutzmaßnahmen auf die Hunde verirren, werden zuverlässig abgetötet.

Meine Empfehlung: Bravecto ist ein guter Schutz. Wer den Schutz noch optimieren will, kann außerdem ein für Zecken abstoßendes Mittel (Repellent) verwenden, um das Befallsrisiko zusätzlich zu minimieren. Hier gibt es natürliche Mittel, die den Körpergeruch des Hundes verändern, etwa Schwarzkümmel-Öl oder Kokos-Öl und ähnliche Präparate. Ich mache bei meinen kurzhaarigen Hunden sehr gute Erfahrungen mit Schwarzkümmel-Öl (und bekomme als positiven Nebeneffekt bei allen drei Hunden auch noch ein seidenweiches Fell).

Ausblick: Wie ich von meinem Tierarzt hörte, soll Bravecto 2017 mit neuen Produkten auf den Markt kommen. Zusätzlich zur Pille soll es dann eine Präparat geben, welches äußerlich angewendet wird. Darüber hinaus soll es auch ein Bravecto Präparat für Katzen geben. Außerdem soll es Mehrfachpackungen geben.

Es sind weltweit bereits viele Hunde ernsthaft krank geworden oder noch schlimmer, durch die Gabe des Mittel Bravecto, gestorben.

Rico war so ein Hund. Ein vitaler, lebenslustiger Hund (Mischung aus Holländischem Schäferhund x Mechelse Herder) , der noch in vollen Zügen das Leben genossen hat und gerne lange spazieren ging.

Zwei Tage nach BRAVECTO bekam er schlimme Symptome (Herzrhythmusstörungen, hohes Fieber, extrem schnelle Atmung usw.) und noch vor Ablauf eines Monats war er tot.

*Bravecto (der Wirkstoff ist ein Insektizid und heißt „Fluralaner“) ist ein Mittel, das auf das zentrale Nervensystem der Zecke wirkt (allerdings auch beim Hund!)

Hier einige Beispiele der schlimmen Nebenwirkungen von Bravecto:

- Herzrhythmusstörungen, auch mit Todesfolge

- Erbrechen von Blut

- Leichte bis ganz schwere epileptische Anfälle (meist schlägt kein Medikament an)

- Entzündung der Bauchspeicheldrüse (Pankreatitis)

- Muskelschwäche usw. usw.

Keines dieser Nebenwirkungen ist in dem Beipackzettel aufgeführt. Dort wird lediglich auf leichte Magen – und Darmprobleme hingewiesen!

Lassen Sie sich von Ihrem Tierarzt nichts weismachen und schönreden! Sie nennen es eine gut schmeckende Kautablette, aber dieses Mittel ist ein hochgiftiges Insektizid, welches überhaupt nicht an Hunde gegeben werden darf.

RTL heizt Nebenwirkungsdebatte um Bravecto® an

„Bravecto ® kills“ – die auf Facebook hochemotional geführte Debatte über mögliche Nebenwirkungen des Antiparasitikums wird durch einen TV-Beitrag weiter angeheizt: Die RTL-Mittagsshow „punkt12“ hat das Thema aufgegriffen. Tierarztpraxen sollten sich auf Kundennachfragen vorbereiten. Die Informationen dazu liefert dieser Artikel. (*aktualisiert 2.4.2017)

Worum geht es?

In den Sozialen Medien gibt es seit jeher zum Thema Antiparasitika unter Tierbesitzern einen Glaubenskrieg: „böse Chemie“ versus „gute Natur“ – letztere meist vertreten durch Bernstein oder Kokosöl. Besonders im Fokus der Kritik steht im Moment das Medikament Bravecto ® , dem schwere Nebenwirkung bis hin zum Tod von Hunden vorgeworfen werden.

Jetzt hat die RTL-Mittagsshow „punkt12“ das Thema ebenfalls sehr emotional mit Leidensbildern von angeblich betroffenen Hunden aufgegriffen. Der Beitrag ist in der RTL-Mediathek nicht zu finden, wird aktuell aber über vom Fernseher abgefilmte Versionen via Facebook oder auch via YouTube verbreitet.

Die Aufsichtsbehörden gehen diesen Nebenwirkungsvorwürfen nach (Details siehe unten), was aber nicht bedeutet, dass bislang ein kausaler Zusammenhang zwischen Haltererlebnissen und Medikament nachgewiesen ist.

Welche Informationen gibt es?

• Öffentlich hat sich zuletzt Anfang Februar das in Deutschland für Arzneimittelzulassungen zuständige Bundesamt für Verbraucherschutz und Lebensmittelsicherheit geäußert (BVL – Wortlaut hier). Es berichtet, dass in der Fachinformation (umgangssprachlich: Beipackzettel) bisher als mögliche Nebenwirkungen ausschließlich gastrointestinale Effekte aufgeführt sind. In Deutschland und ebenso in anderen EU-Mitgliedsländern seien seit Markteinführung 2014 aber UAW-Meldungen zu Bravecto ® eingegangen, die (Zitat) „über teilweise schwere neurologische Symptome wie zum Beispiel Zittern, Ataxie, Krampfanfälle, Epilepsie berichten.“

Auf diese schon 2015 im Deutschen Tierärzteblatt gemeldeten möglichen Nebenwirkungen sollten Tierärzte verstärkt achten.

Der Bravecto ® -Hersteller MSD hat eine eigene mehrsprachige Webseite Namens bravectofacts eingerichtet. Auf der erklärt er unter Berufung auf Zahlen der Europäischen Arzneimittelagentur (EMA), dass die bisher gemeldeten „unerwünschten Ereignisse“ in die Kategorie „selten“ eingestuft wurden, also für lediglich 1 von 10.000 (0,01 %) bis 1 von 1.000 (0,1 %) verabreichten Dosen berichtet wurden. Hierbei handelte es sich am häufigsten um milde und vorübergehende Magen-Darm-Beschwerden, die auch in der Packungsbeilage erwähnt sind.

Es gebe aber auch „schwerwiegende unerwünschte Ereignisse“, die in die Kategorie „sehr selten“ fielen (weniger als 1 von 10.000 / 0,01 %). Hier dürfte es sich um die vom BVL beschriebenen neurologischen Symptome handeln.

Auch im Deutschen Tierärzteblatt (Ausgabe 4/2017) hat der Hersteller Stellung bezogen und diese Daten kommuniziert.

Bravecto ® wird weltweit vertrieben (bisher rd. 34 Mio Dosen) und wurde von 72 Arzneimittelaufsichtsbehörden im Rahmen der Zulassung überprüft.

Tierbesitzer diskutieren im Internet aber nicht nur emotional, sondern auch sachlich. So hat die Bloggerin Anna Pietschmann auf ihrer Webseite „fluffology“ sehr fundiert das Thema Nebenwirkungen von Antiparasitika allgemein und Bravecto ® im besonderen aufgearbeitet.

Was sollten Tierärzte tun?

• Tierärzte sollten sich – und das Praxisteam – auf kritische Nachfragen und auch Vorwürfe von Kunden zu Bravecto ® vorbereiten. In den Foren wird sehr heftig kritisiert, dass eine Reihe von Praxen von der aktuellen Debatte nichts wüßten und daher nicht ausgewogen beraten würden(siehe Foto oben).
• Wenn aber der Tierarzt wiederum vorinformiert war und glaubhaft darlegen konnte, dass es in seiner Klientel nicht zu den befürchteten schweren Nebenwirkungen gekommen ist, vertreten Tierhalter diese Position auch weiter.
• Tierärzte, die von Nebenwirkungen erfahren, sollten diese unbedingt melden: Informationen dazu finden sie hier – der Download des UAW-Meldebogens ist hier möglich.

Eine risikoorientierte Beratung durch den Tierarzt fordert auch das BVL in seiner Mitteilung: Im Fall von Bravecto ® sollte das individuelle Nutzen-Risiko-Verhältnis für das jeweilige Tier beachtet werden. Bei möglichen Risikopatienten solle überlegt werden, ob ein anderes verfügbares Medikament geeigneter sei.

Dabei dürfte das BVL – obwohl bisher noch nicht im Beipackzettel aufgeführt – wohl auch auf die von der Europäischen Arzneimittelagentur (EMA) unten aufgeführten Nebenwirkungen abzielen.

Was tun die Behörden?

EU-weit beobachten die Behörden – auch das deutsche BVL – bereits seit längerem sehr genau die vom Hersteller, von Tierärzten und auch Tierhaltern gemeldeten unerwünschten Arzneimittelwirkungen (UAWs) zu Bravecto ® und bewerten diese.

Der aktuell von der EMA vorgelegte EU-Pharmakovigilanzbericht 2016 (PDF-Download hier) enthält dementsprechend auch Angaben zu Bravecto ® (siehe Foto oben):

• Die Zulassungsinhaber (MAH) werden demnach aufgefordert, einen gezielten Bericht über die Unbedenklichkeit des Arzneimittels (PSUR) bereit zu stellen, der eine ausführliche Analyse und eine kritische Überprüfung aller gemeldeten ernstzunehmenden Nebenwirkungen beinhaltet. Dazu gehören – so listet es die EMA auf – neurologische Ausfallerscheinungen, Irritationen von Haut und Gliedmaßen, Überempfindlichkeits-/Immunvermittelte Reaktionen und Hepatopathien, darüber hinaus Todesfälle oder Nebenwirkungen, die zu einer Euthanasie geführt haben.
• Dieser spezielle Bericht wird dann vom Committee for Medicinal Products for Veterinary Use (CVMP) der European Medicines Agency (EMA) bewertet und je nach Ergebnis werden weitere Maßnahmen getroffen.
• Eine erste Reaktion etwa auf eine gegen Ende der Kontrollperiode als Nebenwirkung festgestellte „Lethargie“ ist erfolgt. Die Vertreiber des Produkts werden angewiesen, ihre Beipackzettel zu aktualisieren und den Begriff Lethargie zu ergänzen.

Schlussfolgerung: Sachlich bleiben

Was in der ganzen Debatte, die auch mit Verweis auf die Mitteilungen von BVL und EMA geführt wird, schnell untergeht:

Die Aktivitäten der Arzneimittelüberwachung werden in den Sozialen Medien nicht als Teil einer aufmerksamen Qualitätskontrolle verstanden, sondern sofort als „bereits festgestellter Mangel“ kommuniziert. Mit Verweis auf die BVL-Meldung etwa, wird Tierärzten vorgeworfen (siehe Foto oben), dass sie wissentlich „unsichere“ Medikamente verordnen.

Das entbehrt jeder Grundlage.

Auch die spätere Aufnahme einer möglichen Nebenwirkung in den Beipackzettel bedeutet nicht, dass ein Medikament „unsicher“ ist. Medikamente haben Nebenwirkungen. Bestimmte Tiere sind dafür empfänglicher. Hier wird dann wissenschaftlich zwischen Nutzen und Risiken abgewogen.

Die deutschen und europäischen Aufsichtsbehörden prüfen diese UAW-Meldungen sehr gründlich und handeln dann, wenn sich ein Verdacht auf schwere Nebenwirkungen bestätigt. Bei gravierenden Fällen nehmen sie das Medikament vom Markt – wie etwa in diesem Fall.

Hinter jedem verlausten Hund steckt mehr Ehrlichkeit, Liebe und Freundschaft

als hinter der sauberen Fassade mancher Menschen.

im Prinzip ist es egal ob Spot On oder Kautablette, bei beiden lagern sich die für Flöhe und Zecken wirksmen Gifte in den oberen Hautschichten ab. Das Ungeziefer stirbt erst nach dem Stechen und Blutsaugen ab. Halsbänder geben ihre Wirkstoffe ins Fell ab und lässt im besten Fall Flöhe und Zecken beim Atmen absterben. Das Ungeziefer atmet die Wirkstoffe (Gift) bis zum Tod ein, der Hund muss es bis zum Versiegen des Giftes ertragen. Dann muss ein neues Halsband her und der Kreislauf beginnt von vorn. Öle und vielfach auch Sprays verkleben das Fell und behindern die Durchlüftung des Fells sowie seine Funktion als Temperaturregulator. Die einzige Alternative wäre nach jedem Spaziergang im Verbreitungsgebiet von Zecken den Hund ab zu suchen oder die chemische Keule zu schwingen. Aber das muss jeder nach seiner Einstellung selbst entscheiden. Ich selbst benutze 1 mal im Sommer SpotOn, davor und danach werden Zecken abgesucht.

Abgesehen davon habe ich Bedenken, Insektizide oral zu verbareichen, da sie dann im ganzen Organismus angereichert werden und nicht wie Spot-On nur in den oberen Hautschichten.

Wir hatten letztes Jahr für unsere Frieda das teure Band aus der Blechdose (hab den Namen grad nicht parat; es wurde von jemandem hier genannt), das hat gar nix genützt.

Heute haben wir von unserer Tierärztin die Kautablette (bravecto) bekommen - mal sehn, wie das wird.

Daher, gegen Zecken wirkende SpotOns, Halsbänder usw. mit chemischen Stoffen müssen ins Blut! Wär dem nicht so, würd das Biest ja nicht absterben!

Tja, wer wohl hinter solchen Neuigkeiten steckt. uuuund wer lanciert jährlich wiederkehrend eine gewisse Zeckenhysterie.

Bravecto kann zum Tod führen.

Allerdings lebte von denen glaube nur noch 1 oder 2 als wir sie entfernt hatten.

Wir sind jetzt wieder zu Tropfen / ner Flüssigkeit die aufs Fell gemacht werden (habe den Namen leider vergessen) übergegangen.

Negativt til alt incl. Giardiaen han blev behandlet for. Så det er jo dejligt.

Og vi bor i en højrisikozone. Og har oplevet en del hunde rundt om os, i nærmiljøet er blevet syge af både hjerte og lungeorm. Blandt andet en der fik hjerteormen, som måtte leve resten af sine dage med dårligt hjerte og kunne ikke løbe ret meget.

Og nogle stykker der fik lungeormen. En var ved at dø af en blodprop under behandlingen af ormene. Men er heldigvis frisk den dag i dag. Hun graver stadig efter mus, men er i fast behandling.

Fremover vil der blive tjekket fast hvert halve år.

Men skille det dukke op, så vil jeg da klart gøre det.

Jeg overvejer at tjekke dem ind i mellem, men tænker at det hurtigt kan blive en glidebane. For man burde jo også tjekke for flåtsygdomme to gange årligt. Og hvad bliver det næste så..

Så det er en opvejning, ligesom med alt andet man bruger sin tid og sine penge på.

Man tjekker det over 3 dage med en afføringsprøve, ikke?

Jeg kan ikke forestille mig at Nordmors er et højrisikoområde, MEN det henner jo man er på ferie andre steder ?

Nu bliver næste skridt at se om hendes hosten forsvinder i løbet af kort tid og hvis ikke så vil dyrlægen have hendes hjerte og lunger tjekket. Hun er jo 8 år gammel og fejler aldrig noget.

Og hun er glad og tilfreds..hvad er de mest almindelige symptomer på hjerteorm ?

ALTSÅ der er dælme da også noget at bekymre sig om hele tiden ..

Det er hårdt at være hunde ejer..men da heldigvis det hele værd.

Der er vel ikke nogen grund til, at din dyrlæge ikke skulle have ret, når han siger, at han ikke har haft tidligere tilfælde, men det er ingen grund til at gå og være bekymret, hvis man hurtig og let kan gøre noget ved det.

Dårlig dyrlæge jeg har der slet ikke har nævnt noget..

In den Fachmedien finde ich dazu nichts (allerdings recherchiere ich nicht dauernd dazu).

Mцglicherweise hatten die verstorbenen Hunde einen MDR1-Defekt (wobei man Bravecto angeblic bei MDR1-Defekt sicher anwenden darf). Da swird ja nicht regelmдЯig untersucht, bestenfalls erst nach einem Ereignis.

In Foren, gerade zu Medizinthemen wird unglaublich viel Mist verbreitet. Sehr ideologisch. Wie in der Diskussion ums Impgen der Kinder.

Die ganzen Foren wьrde ich selbst niemals - NIEMALS - als seriцse Quelle betrachten. Da schreiben Laien, die von Medizin und den zugrunde liegenden Mechanismen soviel Ahnung haben wie ich von Thermodynamik.

Er war auch sehr krank, hatte 2 Wochen nanch der ersten Doxi-Runde und guten Werten etc. einen Rьckfall und ich gab ihm noch ewig Doxicyclin weiter. Zum Glьck hat er es vertragen. Er ist danach immer ein bisschen fragil gewesen - aber trotzdem vergnьgt fast 16 geworden.

Info on Vectra 3D for dogs

Someone gave me a box of the Vectra 3D for my 3 dogs. While I appreciate the gift, I am concerned re the ingredients and their side effects. Your thoughts re Vectra 3D compared to Frontline. Last year we used Hartz. We have 3 large dogs that stay outside.

Vectra 3D is used to control mosquitoes, fleas, ticks, sand flies, lice, and mites. Your dog must be over 7 weeks of age to use Vectra 3D. Keep out of reach of children, use only on dog labeled for by weight, and do not use on cats or other animals. Most Hartz products are labeled to use on a pet 12 weeks and older.

The Hartz UltraGuard Pro topical spot on's main active ingredient is phenothrin, and then methoprene is used along with it. Phenothrin is an insect growth regulator. In 2005, the EPA required Hartz to change their warning labels and terminate the phenothrin containing products they had for cats. Side effects are: hair loss, salivation, tremors and numerous deaths in cats and kittens.

Vectra 3D made by Summit VetPharm says the active ingredients are dinetofuran, pyriproxyfen and permethrin, which are all labeled as pesticides/insecticides. The side effects are similar to those with phenothrin. Reviews have said it is very important to follow the application instructions. The product can not be put just in one spot between the shoulder blades.

With both products, if you have any cats in the household, make sure they do not have contact with your dogs until the product is completely dry. These products do not serve as a replacement for heartworm preventative. They only work to repel mosquitoes and can not prevent the pet from being bitten from every mosquito. It is also still important to use products for intestinal parasite control too. These products only help to control topical parasites.
